But vinegar goes great on cucumbers.

Many of the older fridges have a drain tray under them ..over time this can become a mold tray ...put a clip on your nose and see if there is a pull out tray under the back of your fridge...

Well, I did the baking soda thing, and I did the vinegar thing. And I cleaned the pan below it. No luck. I pushed the fridge out in the hallway to see if it was causing the stink in my room and my room started to smell much better so I guess the fridge is the culprit.

Could it be a gas leak? You mean the freon gas? Isn't freon odorless? This thing kicks up a stink that make your eyes water. And it seems to get cold just fine.

The fridge was left in the apartment by the last tenants. And I suppose now I know why. But it sucks because it seems to be a perfectly fine fridge except for the stink. I tried to open it up and take a look at it's guts but I can't even get the back of it off. Even if I could, short of a removing a big dead possum, I'm not sure I'd know what to do. arrgh!

I say don't let it remain a mystery, just call the A/S centre, the phone number of which is probably on a sticker somewhere on the fridge. If not, find it on the Net. Forget about the warranty expiration, just get them over and have them see/smell what's going on. If they can't solve the problem, I doubt they can even charge you for the time. If they won't come for some reason, find a general repair shop guy near you and drag him over.

If this is an employer-provided appliance in an employer-provided unit... not sure. Ask them to replace it? Tell them to replace it? Jump & shout? Buy a nice new or used one out of your own pocket?

i know its not the odor inside your fridge but as a tip for the future, you can soak a cotton ball or 2 with vanilla extract, leave it inside your fridge on a plate or bowl for a few hours and all the nasty smells will disappear and your fridge will smell nice, remember to throw out the cotton balls after

fajita gas? i don't know, but am fairly certain the chemical smell and the fridge's diminishing coldess were related - actually i think it's happened to me a few times as i only ever select the highest quality 3rd-hand fridges for my share houses.
