So, Laoigaiguk and Bucheon bum. Would israel be within its rights to remove this do you think?

I'm missing the connection here between kiddirts trash and the dome of the rock.

But to answer your question: Israel COULD remove it but only if it wanted to be invaded by every arab country and god knows who else.

what is your point?

Not to hijack this thread, but- my point is that they would be justified and in their rights to do so. Given that Palestinians desecrated and attacked not only Joseph's tomb but also Rachel's tomb, both ancient places of pilgrimmage for thousands of years- given that muslims utterly destroyed the ancient buddhas of Bamian- indicating a total lack of tolerance for holy sites of other religions.

None of those actions resulted in massive consequences for muslims. The Al aqsa mosque and the dome are just average temples who's significance have been hyped to suit the anti- Israeli agenda. They were built as triumphalist celebrations of military victory by muslims.

Now that Israel are the conquerors, by the same philosophy they would be right to remove them and restore their temple. Given the amount of Islamic jihad in the world already, it probably wouldn't make much difference.

A couple points:

1. Joseph, Rachel and all other biblical figures are venerated by Muslims. To take a quote from your linked article:

Quote:
After thousands of years of veneration by all faiths, Palestinian Arabs suddenly asserted the site was the tomb of a different holy man, a Muslim named Joseph, giving them an excuse to convert the location into a mosque.

Note ALL faiths. And whoever wrote this article was ignorant because it is the EXACT same joseph that the Arabs were refering to. Muslims believe that all the prophets were connected to Islam, hence their argument saying Joseph was a Muslim.

I'm not excusing these morons behaivor and acknowledge that they had no right to do what they did; that being said, it isn't like they totally destroyed the tomb or anything as severe as that.

2. Re: the buddha. Everyone outside Afghanistan, including Muslims, was horrified by what the Taliban did. It was disgusting. Alas, it is different from the dome of the rock and joseph's tomb on many counts.
a) buddha never set foot in afghanistan, and there is no (even remote) historical connection to him and the Bamian
b) Buddhists aren't fighting for anything remotely connected to Afghanistan

Point being this: it is a totally different example from the dome of the rock. I sincerly doubt the Taliban would have done it if it had a millitant buddhist neighbor.

Lastly, when Christian religious nuts HAVE been in power, they have had just as much disprect towards other religions as Muslim nuts have. There one very good reason that there is no Christian theocracy in the world (vatican excluded): the Christian world has learned the danger of religion connected with power. Alas, the Islamic world still hasn't.
