Where is your evidence that there is an anti-Korean backlash in the US???
I'd like to see it.
A vast majority of Americans don't care for South Korea, don't know where South Korea is on a map, and the only recognizable name is Kim Jong Il.
Maybe there is a anti-Korean backlash growing within the US Government, but not the American public. The American public couldn't care less for Korea. |
If the US government is pissed off at you, you know you're doing something right. |

Ok a couple of things.....
First off this one....
I went back home for the holidaze and when I told random people that I lived in Korea I got asked ATLEAST 3 times a day... "north or south"?

Another "train of thought" found in the U.S. military is one of complete frustration and anger that we have about 29,000 troops tied up in SK that should be available for use in Iraq........we need them........and they can gain valuable combat experience. This is becoming a major issue..........ask army officers and see what they say, if they can.

Wrong, ever heard of the AIP program? Ever wonder why the unofficial term for it is the "Avoid Iraq Program"? Korea is supposedly the assignment of choice, but yet my wife is actually getting paid an extra $400 per month to stay here.
How many people actually know the details of the SOFA? As in what Korea PAYS the U.S. to stay here? Bueller??

It probably had something to do along the lines of him wanting to beat the ever living piss out of all of them for desecrating something that was a symbol of how hard he had worked to allow them to do that very thing. I mean they probably would have done better to just walk up and spit in his face.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Hold on, one more time.....HAHAHAHAHAHAH
no wait.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
Now on to the serious part of this lame post....I'm glad your generals would never be able to show compassion or emotion. I guess MacArthur should have learned something from them when he was saving their asses. |

That was the best soap drama I've seen a long time.

My uncle was a korean marine office and fought side by side with American soldiers in Vietnam, 2 months after he arrive in Vietnam, he wrote letters to his family, he said " there is no way America can win in Vietnam", he said the mentality of American soldiers are terrible, basically they don't want to fight, they are not soldiers "
My uncle voluntary went Vietnam and years later retired as a general. |
Miss Seoul, this is the first time i have really disagreed with your comments. have you ever stopped to realize, that the US commits more soldiers and money, every year to your country's security, than your country has committed to other countries in their entire existence?
If 30,000 Koreans died for another country, and 30,000 (at times almost twice that) were stationed in that country, and billions of dollars were given to that country to ensure their economic success, and they thanked you by burning your flag, rioting against your country's evil nature, and elected a president because he trashed your country, would it possible for you to shed a tear? |

First I am a pro-America/American and I hate to see Anti-Americanism in Korea, however we shouldn't forget that the principal of U.S policy is " America does what is the best for America/American and if their interest doesn't meet, it doesn't matter it's Korea/Iraq/Somali, America will not do anything, so you shouldn't tell me that America came to Korea during Korean war for just Korean, we have to see what was America's interest on Korea at the time "
Can you tell me that America invaded Iraq for Iraqies, George Bush used to say that, what a joke ! " |

There are reasons why China is building "The Great Wall II" across the border of North Korea.
Chinese aren't stupid. They know that the xenophobic and nationalistic Koreans will unite one day. Also, the Chinese know the Koreans have this "dilusion" of The Greater Korean Empire.
Interesting things bring people together. Pre-WW2 Nazi Germany and Communist Russia could agree and pact over Poland. PRChina and the USA have border problems with races wanting to inflitrate and take back" land.
I am sure the Mexican / Korean issue has brought some good helpful communication between both countries. |

This really seems to bother a lot of Koreans. It seems they think it is an insult to Korea that any country could have national interests of its own separate from Korea. The same people also use the term 'national interest' as if it is a dirty word and that Korea doesn't have any national interests.
It's all quite peculiar.
It comes mainly from the ones who wish they could be more active in worshipping KJI and eating tree bark and grass today. |

EVERY country acts out of it's own national interests. You act like the US is the only nation whose policies are selfish. It would be foolish for a country to help out another country for purely altruistic reasons. Take a basic economics class before you spew your biased crap from your mouth, kid. |

Oh my God ... sorry to even re-quote that. I apologize for any previous endorsement of Miss Seoul. I am not American, but that kind of infantile display of thought gives me a sick feeling inside. Once had a Korean public school teacher blurt out comments like that at me. After knowing her for 3 years I never met her again and never want to. |

Would you please give me an example of one country that has decided to forgo their national interests to help another country?
Now that you've realized you said the wrong thing, the next question is...
Are you going to apoligize for being completely wrong? or defend your ignorant statement and drive your reputation even further in to the ground? |

"X nation cries out that U.S. is doing nothing to help countries in need. "
"U.S. is letting thousands die"

Those missions were strictly humanitarian. Other than the possible improved opinion of the US by those being helped ( not usual anyway in a world full of ingrates)
Clinton didnt bother to send troops to Rwanda, which was much graver than Somalia, after the debacle in Magadishu. And Yet the Us keeps on truckin. |

My point exactly, if it was strictly "to be a nice guy" he would have sent troops to Ro-wan-duh but instead to samalia.
He had more to gain.
