| Pernod and Ouzo are VERY different form absinthe. Many people consider pernod to be "absinte without wormwood", but it really isn't. The herbs are completely different, as is the flavour. As it stands, I am much close to making Polish Putnikova (no cyrillic keyboard, sorry), than true abinthe. The differences are minor, but... |
Not really. The big difference is that Pernod isn't bitter because it doesn't have wormwood. |

I honestly don't know, but I read ALOT of online faqs to make sure that I wasn't going to go blind from this. Most of them actually specifically mentioned pernod being different. Again, I don't know. Meh, its done anyway.
Just a heads up, 3 days later and its a healthy green with the distinct Anise smell of absinthe. |

You might want to give some to your cat first just to be sure you don't go blind. |

Congratulations, you're about to imbibe the world's worst tasting drink, BAR NONE.
We used to make the real deal (distilled) back in college with a pressure cooker, copper tubing, ice bucket, and the works. If you're really into that anarchist cookbook sort of s**t then I suggest you do the distillation thing, or you're going to have what the Brits would call a "bloody mess" on your hands and that's no green fairy talking... |
