Embarassed I was refering to Pligganease, not DD, who posted as the same time as me it appears.

my dad is not homophobic whatsoever. He supports same-sex marriage, his best friend was gay, etc but one thing he firmly believes in is homosexuals shouldn't be in the military. His reasoning? for the reason Pligganease gave.

I wonder any of the critics harping on this policy have been in the military. Yes, i know, one doesn't have to experience something to form a valid opinion, but I think it would help in this case.

While the "don't ask don't tell" policy sounds silly, it does seem like a pragmatic approach.
