Since when do you resort to mud-slinging?

Um, he said some obviously dumb stuff, and all I did was point to it and say "That was dumb." You don't wanna have someone point out when you say dumb stuff, then hey, don't say dumb stuff. I've said dumb stuff myself in the past, learned from it when people pointed it out. I didn't consider it mudslinging at the time. Once I got over being mad, I just said, "Okay, I was wrong. Now I know better."

They said they would do whatever they could to help and now they are backing out. Like the Op said it sounds like the apology wasn't sincere at all. The very least they can do is help the university by providing the mental health records.

No point in talking to someone who is not willing to be honest. Third time I've asked you - would you do it it were YOUR family? I doubt it, mainly because you've had ample opportunity to do say so by now.

Answer carefully. Would you REALLY? Would you bring additional harm up for the people around you that you love and care about, more media attention, more harm than has already happened?

Remember, this is your family. If you are not willing to answer this honestly, there's no point in talking to you, not about this or anything else.

If you know anything about Korean people, Confucianism and the rest, you know that family is the innermost circle, and society, all the rest of us, we are way at the outside. Not that different back home, come to think, just a little more pronounced here.

Be honest and answer the question. Would you REALLY do anything different? If so, WHY would you risk any further harm to the people you love around you?

This is a serious question. Are you mentally retarded? Definately mentally ill in some way. Perhaps a family member is and that is why you feel so strongly about the issues. My apologies.
Once again passive aggressive Boobster is making up crap. I can understand why Pastis got so angry at you before. You'd try the patience of a saint.
Get a life loser troll.

Nothing you say is in the remotest sense serious. You are unable to address a question honestly and with forthright candor despite being asked to do so several times. I don't know why you bother coming around if you don't have the stones for a conversation among adults. I'll try one more time :

Would you honestly do anything differently if it were YOUR family?

Geez, Bobster. I've been reading your and Guri's back and forth and I'm sorry, but Guri's been nothing but logical and you have been nothing but obstinate.

Guess that puts me on your sh* list, but . . Give it a rest!

To be honest, Bobster can present good arguments and I don't really think him to be an idiot. However, his psychotic style of posting seems to be offputting to a lot of people. When he is not screaming insults Bobster certainly is a lot more coherent and logical.

To be honest Bobster, if my brother gunned down 32 innocent people I'd want my family to cooperate with authorities. I'm sure my life wouldn't be easy from that point on but it's a hell of a lot better than being dead. It would be the least I could do.
What would you do in that situation?

You still haven't answered my other question. You think that the family is not responsible for the "sins of the fathers". Fine. A very popular topic on these boards (monthly in fact) is the topic of Japanese war crimes and the supposed lack of a sincere apology. The OP questioned whether Cho's family apologized sincerely or not. So I was just curious as to your position on this issue. Should present day Japanese that were not even born before World War 2 apologize for the "sins of their fathers". I have answered your question honestly so I would ask you to answer mine. Have a good day.

Bobster, I want to apologize. I shouldn't have judged. Disagreeing and arguing is one thing, judging is another.

Well, it looks like the family finally did end up giving the records to the panel. We'll all have to make our ow assumptions as to how they came to the decision.

The guy makes personal slurs against me AND my family, cDD, accused me of "making up crap". I don't think I did. And you call it "nothing but logical," when all I did was point out what any person who loves their family would likely do. Sure you don't want to rethink that?

As for giving it a rest, um ... not quite ready. I would not have given any medical records to anyone if there was the slightest chance someone in my family could suffer later from that. They made the wrong choice. I would not, and were it to happen anywhere near me, I will not.

There's nothing logical in linking the moral culpability of a governmental body in Japan with the choices a family makes to protect itself from future harm due to media frenzy in the aftermath of a freak event. The former was institutionalized and has documented evidence to show it was condoned and encouraged by hundreds, if not thousands within the hierarchy of the regime, and the latter is just one nutty kid who was able to get a gun in his hand when any sane country would have made it more difficult for him to do so.

It's wierd to even attempt to make the comparison. As I said, dumb.

If GG wants to make some connection, he hasn't come close. Far as i can see, he hasn't even tried.
