I've been a long term traveller for a years now (spending more than a year away making returns pointless) and have got used to the one-way-ticket-dance.
I flew into Seoul 2 days ago from the UK with my one-way ticket (£300) and my soon-to-be-refunded ticket from Seoul to Japan (£350). Refundable tickets cost a lot, but it's virtual money - on and off you CCard within a month.
Neither Immigration nor airlines asked to see the forward ticket which was actually lucky as I left it at my sisters house by accident!
Generally if you look smart/white/relaxed they don't really hassle you. If you've got dreads, wearing unwashed tie-dye clothes, and have a "how to teach ESL" book under your arm as you ask for a tourist visa, then things won't go well.
So I'm in the country... now to find a job... Hmmm... |
