It depends. I think experience will help as time goes.
But on the first day, dont come off as a nice teacher. Just be a person who owns the room and demands respect.
After awhile, ease up and you'll be alright. |

| it was suggested by the EPIK interviewer that i take one. I am guessing the suggesting part is pretty much the same as saying "take it". How did you go about finding the best one? i wanted to start looking online for one. I think it only has to be 100 hours or more right? |
I'm taking the 100 hours www.teflonline.com course. I'm applying for Seoul as 1st choice so didn't really have a choice as a 100Hr course is needed for Seoul applications and I haven't taught before.
I'm finding it really good. Definitely not easy, but that was to be expected. I didn't really research the cost too much when I signed up, it was recommended by my Recruiter (he takes a commission per signup, but I'm happy with that as he has worked bloody hard to help me with my application process, and they don't make much money from it!)
The course I am doing has 13 modules, and at the end of each module you are required to do a quiz and 2 assignments (one page essay, or lesson plan). There is a dedicated tutor who is available to answer questions and provides feedback on your assignments. My tutor works me hard but is really good and knowledgeable.
There is also a grammar course which is included in the cost (www.grammaradvisor.com) which gives you the run down on grammar.
I'd reccommend it! |

That sounds like a good plan, but how could I phrase that for the interview? Like what would be some sort of definite positive action for dealing with classroom disruption? |

That is also the TEFL course that I'm taking. It was also recommended by my recruiter. I chose it because 1. it was recommended and 2. I didn't really have the time to research every single type of TEFL course I could take.
I've only done a few modules so far but it seems not bad and the website is full of many different resources. |

I just got word that I passed my interview.
My preferences are Daegu, Gyeongbuk, Daejeon
Have we found out a way for the members of the facebook group to be invisible? |
Congratulations!
I don't think there is a way unless we close the group off to new members. If you're worried about privacy, you could create a new facebook account that doesn't share any of your personal information. Or I think you can change your own facebook privacy settings to hide your name from groups. |
thanks!
How many of you guys have, or are planning to complete a 100 hour TEFL certification?
I just registered for one today. I was given a Proof of Enrollment sheet from EPIK that is supposed to be written and signed by the TEFL institute and then I believe turned in with my documents.
However, it will take probably a week before I can get that from the TEFL institute.
Did you guys turn in a proof of enrollment sheet? |
Congrats!!
I signed up for my TESOL after I received word that I passed my interview. The site that I signed up with, LinguaEdge, sent me my proof of enrollment less than 4 hours after I asked for it. My tutor was really quick because I told him I needed it ASAP. I wanted to send my documents in right away and that was the only thing holding me back.
I kind of regret signing up for it; I don't have a lot of time nor patience, but I paid for it, so now I don't have a choice. The in-class course would have been better for me; I need structure. lol. |

| Does anyone know if any of the cities have been closed off yet? I'm hoping to get Busan but I imagine it will be the second fastest to fill up. |

Busan has many openings. We are all just waiting to see where we get placed. Have you passed your interview? When did you get your docs sent in? |

I'm gonna keep on course until I hear that war sirens are going off. Until then, I want to believe that the media is just blowing things out of proportion because they're running out of things to say. |
