So anyone else frrreeeaaaaakkkking out a little bit? Very Happy

I'm leaving on the 15th, and arriving on the 17th, even though my orientation (Gangwon) doesn't start till the 18th. It was the only way to work it with a direct flight, so I'll be spending a day in a hotel in Incheon. Whee!

Incheon is kind of in Seoul... but I figure since I have to go back to the airport for EPIK pick-up on the 18th anyway, may as well stay nearby.

When I say "kind of" I definitely mean it.

Incheon is regarded as part of the greater Seoul metropolitan area due to part of it bordering the capital, and the fact that the Seoul Metropolitan Subway and the Incheon Subway systems are linked - Wikipedia

All that I really meant is that my flight itinerary says that I'm flying to Seoul, but I'm flying in to Incheon International Airport.

jcm87- I have not seen a schedule for the orientation, I only know there are two this time, one starting the 17th of Feb, and one starting the 18th of Feb and it is divided up by what city you are in. Mine is at Eulgi University. I'll post more details during or after the orientation and will also be starting a blog. Your top cities look almost identical to mine and we received Daegu. TTYL!

Hey anyone going to be living in Jeonju city?? I'm starting there March 4th. I got a job through the Ministry of Education so still at a public school luckily. Unfortunately, I won't be going to the EPIK orientation which sounds like it would be an awesome time but we should definetely set up a forum on here or page on facebook for people living in Jeonju.

They already exist...

go to Facebook and do a search for 'Jeonju' - you'll find 5 or 6 groups there already!

also check out the Jeonju Hub for latest info and useful contacts...

Been living in the 'Ju for the last 2 1/2 years and it's definitely one of the best places to live in Korea. Hopefuly I'll be back there myself in the next few weeks...

The cities I'm thinking about for EPIK September EPIK 2010 are Busan, Daegu, Daejon, and Gwangju, but I've also heard a lot of good things about Jeonju...should I look into it more? It seems kind of small. What would be the advantage of Jeonju over one of the cities I listed? Also, I saw on a website that there was only a couple of EPIK job openings in Jeonju for this February's EPIK, compared to 120 for Busan and 60 for Daegu...is this true?

AFKitty-thanks for the info! I'll definitely have to check out your blog-be sure and post a link.

Anyone else sitting around in Vancouver waiting for their VISA? My liver is glad I'm missing the orientation, but my stomach regrets the ulcer.

I'm on an F-5 visa and I have been working at an English Kindergarten for more than 6 years now. I've been living and teaching in Korea for more than 9 years altogether. My school has taken very good care of me, so I stay. However, I am really getting burned out. I need a big change. I do have a Master's in Student Affairs and several years teaching experience -- most in Korea (all hakwon).

I was looking at the SMOE pay scale and it looks like 7 years teaching experience at the same school (that will apply to me mid 2011) and a letter from my employer could put me at the top making 3.0 mil.

But... a few moments ago, I read that EPIK/SMOE/GEPIK does NOT recognize teaching at a kindergarten as actual teaching experience. Is that true? I'm starting to feel like I've just wasted so much time in this country for almost nothing.
