So I read on Wikipedia that in America " a private survey conducted in 2001 revealed 76.7 percent of American adults identified themselves as Christian, down from 86.4 percent in 1990. "

I'm not saying we're all American and I'm not saying we represent our entire populations, but I know America and Aus and probably the others were "founded on strong Christian beliefs" as John Howard put it when he told Muslims to shut up or go home.

This is such a pathetically useless and overused argument in favour of Christianity. America wasn't built on Christian values since Christian values had been around a long time before that stupid book came out and copied most of the Greek ones (with many others)...

*beep* no. There is either a god, or there is not. Insecure agnostics that can't decide will get the boot I'm afraid. Man up or ship out, toots.

Agnosts are the smarter people.

They say you cannot prove or disprove the existence of a god, as such, the conclusion is that it doesn't matter whether there is a God or not.

I assume when we all mention agnostics, we mean people who can't rule out the possibility of some sort of omnipotent, omnipresent consciousness, and the idea of an old man with a beard who sits on a cloud and throws lightning bolts at the Earth is as ludicrous as it is to an atheist. Otherwise I'd say they're just open-minded to the point of idiocy.

At least Christians have an excuse for it. They had it forced down their throats from an extremely young age.

Ive entered heathenville and im crashin yo party boyzzz. Have some of my home made apple pie.

Herez the thing u pagans, and im going tell u frankly. You dont know God cause u never sought him. Plain and simple.

Probably ur lives have been easy compared with ur ability. If ur fortunate enough in life to come to a place where ur ability is not enough, and u are helpless, and u get on ur kneez, humble urself and beg Gods mercy and forgiveness. There u will meet God.

Im not a model Xchian and im not here to save ur souls, but yes my life was hard years ago and i needed Gods help. I cant deny his help in my life.

So enjoy the apple pie and revel in ur blissful ignorance for now. "Seek and u will find." I'll c myself out.

A phrase that sits rather uncomfortably with your avatar.

I say there is no god in that Jehovah is a cheap knockoff of Yahweh who is a copy of Mars, who himself is a copy of Ares. Believing in Jehovah but calling Ares a pagan god is like loving modern day Michael Jackson but claiming he was never in the Jackson Five.

Is it 'Get out of my dreams; get into my car' by Billy Ocean?

I will bring my Nothing Book.

Religion is just a mental disorder (condition, dependancy, whatever) that has just been too widely spread that it has become the norm.

So, I choose Atheism.

(jokingly considered believing in Greek Mythology, just cuz it would sound cool. "Dude, what's your religion?" "Greek Myth". and have a picture of a lightning bolt penetrating jesus put up on your wall)

but yeah, atheism. I'm there.

I deplore Christianity, largely due to the scandals that existed in the past in my home province, and even having a friend tell me as an altar boy the priest tried some funny stuff.

I prefer not to even think about religion, though Buddhism seems harmless, except for that sham of shaving your head and putting on a robe. That seems vain to me. You cannot renounce the world in order to get something else, spiritual or whatever you call it. I get the awful feeling some of those fools think they are superior somehow.

and, it seems to me, somewhat ludicrous to create a club (or have conventions, or hold meetings) about what you don't believe.

i understand agnosticism though ... i think it's deeply human to wonder if there's a greater being out there, something that gave a spark of life to humanity. it's sometimes hard to grasp that we are here due to a billion freak scientific coincidences.

so agnostics have a fair point ... it feels like there's more to our existence, but none of the answers put forward are satisfactory.

it's not always about what you don't believe, but what you do. i'm with dawkins in his quest for truth. i feel religions are based around myths and lies (i was raised catholic), and that leads people away from wanting to know the truth and wanting to know about science. if they hear something scientific that goes against what they believe, they cling to their religion instead of science. i believe science makes me feel the same way believing in a god made me feel (minus the guilt and fear.)

i dont wonder 'who' put me here. in an infinite amount of time, nothing is impossible (some things are just highly improbable.) a god poofing into existence all powerful and all knowing is very high on the highly improbable for me, and i certainly dont believe it happened before this universe.

i'm an atheist. i'm a girl, too.
i dont want to be in a club.
