| I LOVE "Blood in, blood out." I saw it when I was 13. It made an impression. Now, I'm sporting the LK colors, holmes. |

"Garbage Pail Kids" is awesome. There's some postmodern genius in having these distingusting puppet children work in a sweat shop.
I didn't read all the way back, so someone might have mentioned this...
"Garden State"
Watch it and be rewarded. |

Seen a few lately that I liked:
The Hoax --about the fake autobiography of Howard Hughes
The Bank Job (2008)---based on a true crime in London in 1971
He Was A Quiet Man --strange movie, but I liked it |

My favourite movies of all time in no particular order:
Notes on a Scandal - riveting performances by Cate Blanchett & Judi Dench
Frida - Selma Hayek is brilliant as Mexican painter Frida Kahlo
Quills - story about (a part of) the life of the infamous Marquis de Sade with a stellar cast
Like Water for Chocolate - although I preferred the book
Leaving Las Vegas - Nicholas Cage is truly an artist
The Village - brilliant in every way
Monty Python: Life of Brian & The Holy Grail - no explanation needed |

Saw it, read the book, load of crap. This is what happens when rich white kids read too much Jack London and find out reality sucks. Just proves Darwinism works. Yes I know I will get blasted but just cuz he died doesn't mean he is a hero.
He was unprepared for what he wanted to do. Didn't have a freaking map. Being self-sufficient means knowing how to take care of yourself. Even I know that if you kill a large animal you need to field dress it. And set up drying racks slicing the meat very very thin. Like the native Americans did.
Sorry the kid had to die, more tragic because he was the cause of his own death via his arrogance and stupidity.
Good movie: The Departed (there ain't no good guys)
American Me (Edward James Olmos)
Quincera (been there done that have poofy white dress to prove it)
Zoot Suit
Dark Crystal (rewatched recently still cool)
Strictly Ballroom (makeup with trowel)
Original Hairspray (not the PC remake)
Red Firecracker, Green Firecracker (chinese)
A Life (chinese)
Just a few of my desert island movies.

| Charlie Wilson's War. Phillip Seymour Hoffman should have got an Oscar for this, and Hanks was at his best too. Absolutely loved this movie! |

Here are a couple of recent movies from last year I enjoyed.
Wristcutters, A Love Story--A really good movie that went largely unnoticed last year. If you like Tom Waits and Arrested Development you will probably like this.
Free Jimmy--Classic anti-hero animated movie. You'll love and hate every character in this movie except for maybe the moose.
King of Kong--A great documentary about the quest for the high score on Donkey Kong. If you though Lord of the Rings was the classic battles story between good and evil you ain't seen nothing yet.
Smiley Face--A comedy that received poor reviews. However, I found it quite funny watching this airhead stoner girl stumbling through life. Reminded me of some people I grew up with. |
