YEAH! SEE!?? this is one reason NOT to learn Korean. I know Im a foreigner/not another dimwitted Korean person. I dont need these people to remind me. They just assume we dont speak their language anyway.. so lets not speak it! Ignorance is bliss, knowing leads to conflict, here in korea. |
Why so negative? All it means is "Oh look. A foreigner." |
In civilized countries, if you point at, say, a group of hispanic guys and say, "there are some mexicans!" with a big goofy smile on your face the way Koreans do that to us here, its a perfect way to get your arse beat into your face. |

I think you didn't include what I wrote in your quote.
Sadly, I was a lot more comfortable walking around when my Korean wasn't as good. But hey, I gave some jackasses the finger last night, so I guess I'm finally reverting back to my confident NYC ways |
Yeah, I deleted your bit. I could understand his response to your post but was wondering why he quoted me. |

| Imagine knowing the thoughts of others. It would be madness. The language barrier can be a good thing. |

| I would imagine if they saw you in the street they would find it strange that you are in the street and would wait to see how long before you are run over by a car or bus, or how long it will take you to realise that being in the street is not a very safe thing to do, and walk on the sidewalk. |

Foreigners occupy a place in the Korean psyche. Absolutely. If there were no foreigners around, their lives would be even more devoid than they currently are. I mean, when I'm out out on the street, the stares and glares are continual. I'm probably the highlight of their day and the rest of their day goes downhill and back to kimchi and rice after my presence is removed. |
