The Clash? Most definitely.
BAD? I'm not so sure. With the exception of E=MC2 their stuff hasn't aged particularly well. |
The Clash's best stuff was from the late seventies. Most of their eighties stuff was shite. Just like punk way so much better than New Wave.
New Wave was for fairies. |

| Simple Minds, IMO are the most unrated band of the eighties. |

I'd also argue before OMD and Tears for Fears became Top 40 hits they were as well. Or more to the point, all the stuff they did before becoming pop hits was amazing.
But yeah Simple Minds pop hit was actually in keeping with their art school stuff. |

| I'm drunk and going through Youtube watching videos from all these bands and I must say that the Go-Gos hold up against any competition. |

| RUSH. Thoughtful song topics, great lyrics, their style that's like the humm of powerlines. Guitars like kids playing with model airplanes, or model cars banking sheer curves. The quality of their stuff is always conistent. Great studio musicians, meticulous, like Steely Dan. Their music is charged, breezy, tense, optomistic, and liberating. |
