Canada is a country that has as head of state a Monarch which they borrow from a superior country.

This is a somewhat better angle to play than your attempts at literalizing the ceremonial functions of the monarch. The colonial thing probably still rankles some people in Canada. I personally don't really care, since the UK has absolutely no control over what we do anymore(eg. they followed the Yanks into Iraq, we did not). And anyway changng the system to a republic would require a ton of paperwork and generate a lot of confusion.

Likely an American trying to get some payback on self-righteous Canadians who go around braying about the superiority of their system to the American one. This particular dynamic is an oldie but a goldie on Dave's.

One can compare systems, and I would never say which one is better. In the U.S. congress can enact a bill and the president can veto it. Then 2/3 of congress can overrule it. Wouldn't 51% be enough?

QUII did not intervene at all. Harper pulled his trump card and suspended parliament and had the appointed GG endorse it. He acted within the rules.

The Queens Viceroy is not elected.

And where does the Governor General come from? Oh that's right, she was chosen by an elected official.

Assuming you're that opposed to Prime Ministers picking people for positions in government, I can only assume you're on the same page as Stephen Harper (and the Reform Party in the 1990s) on an elected Senate as well? If not, why are you okay with the PM picking people for government in one are and not another?

Sorry, that is not a power vested to the PM.
That is a power reserved for the Viceroy.

Dude. The Gov General is a wedding ring. She is a symbol. The ring does not constitute the marriage. The Gov General does not constitute the true exercise of power.

You're simply moving into trolling territory.

No, they are still performing with Paul Rogers as their lead singer, who was once the lead singer for Free, Bad Company, and the Firm.

Why is "the queen" trying to intervene in the affairs of Canada, an American state? Doesn't she know that Canada is America's puppy/biatch?
