It depends who you are. I'm Muslim, visibly Muslim. I also love Islam and want to live where Islam came from. Therefore, I should 'fit in' and expect to feel comfortable there. I expect I'll love it in Saudi.

I think you're quite unwise to state with such certainty what Saudi is like when you've never even been there. Do you know what an open mind is?

If you're a drinking, partying, western-type caricature of a person, then I can see why earning 50% less in a semi-crass, shallow third-rate western-copy, may be of great appeal to you. Laughing

Yes, you'll have all that spare money to use on your boozing and whoring trips to Dubai.

I have barely received anything for the taxes I have paid. I accept that I will pay now and receive later.

I will only be choked if those benefits that I paid for are not there in the future when I need them.

If I never end up costing my country thousands of dollars in medical bills, that's a blessing in itself. For myself and for my country.

I don't know. Back in the day Ireland was a very visible catholic country yet all sorts of not so Christian things went on during that time.
Saudi is from I what I understand is much, much worse.

I have no comment to make about the government of Saudi Arabia, either way.

But this is still the land where Islam came from and it's religious signifcance isn't affected by however good or bad the government of the day is.

Of course you need some kind of qualification to lay bricks, ever seen a good bricklayer than can lay over 1000 bricks a day?

Never claimed the dole and hopefully never will. As for fromtheuk, in your situation when you've been working in Korea and are claiming the dole for a few weeks of unemployment I find it pretty weak. You didn't save enough in Korea to tide you over a month of two of living at home with your parents?

Bollox. The guy's probably paid taxes and N.I. before, so why shouldn't he get a little back. That's. What. It's. There. for.

Why be so insulting? Maybe he's thinking

'ah screw it I can't be btohered to do temp waiting for three weeks, I'd like to relax, doss about a bit and see me mates for 3 weeks before leaving again...'

Big deal. Not like he's palnning to go on the rock n roll long term

And yes (not sure where he is, but I can speak for the S.E and London) there are always sh*tlots of temp jobs going - cleaning / waiting / callroom etc...)

I wasn't being insulting, I just stated that collecting the dole when you have the means to support yourself is weak. I personally take pride in supporting myself and would only take the dole if I was in a situation that needed it.

The dole is not there so fromtheuk can swan around for a few weeks seeing all his friends. It's called job seekers allowance, it's intended to help you travel to interviews, feed yourself and cloth yourself so you can get back to work.

On one hand you say he doesn't need to get work because he's only around for a few weeks, then on the other you say there's lots of temp jobs available.

Anyway fromtheuk deserves a few more insults because he is a smug git thinking he's a bigshot sitting in England on the dole waiting to join his lovely Islamic friends in Saudi Arabia.

I don't buy this arguement at all. The fact is if Free money is offered which is essentially what dole is. Most people will take it. If you see a 10 dollar bill on the sidewalk will you take it. Or will you think there's someone else out there who needs it more and leave it.
I admire from the UK's honesty. When I was on the dole I tried to keep it a secrete. Corporate crime does a lot more damage than the guy who takes a taxi to the beer store once a month

ekul - I suggest you take off your gas mask, let in some oxygen and read what I've actually said.

I've applied for about 50 jobs in under 2 weeks. Why? Because I'd like to work until I get the Saudi visa.

I have signed on because I have no other source of income right now. I'm not in the least bit smug.

In Islam, it is better to work than receive handouts. But if no work is offered to me, I will receive those benefits I need.

In summary, I prefer to work but I have not received any job offers in the UK. That's why I left the UK back in 2007. Laughing
