When in India, if you have a small group of say 3 people, consider hiring a taxi. If you don't want to have some major hassles like all the BS when buying train tickets, getting bags stolen on buses, generally being hassled by amputees, people with varying degrees on leprosy, organized gangs of thieves, assorted peddlers of everything imaginable, mothers with starving kids who are taught to make feeding motions, people with disgusting and crippling injuries or with appalling disfigurements crawling up to you and tapping you on the leg so you can drop some rupees in their feeding bowl, it's not a bad idea.
You can stop where you want, when you want and get to some off the beaten track places. |

I've been looking online for a while and haven't found what I'm looking for.
I know you need a visa to enter India and you must have it before you go. Can you get the visa at the American embassy here in Korea or am I going to have to fed-ex my passport to America and back to get the visa? Or do I apply to the Indian embassy here in Korea? I'm confused. |
Assuming you have an ARC, you should be able to apply for the visa at the Indian embassy in Seoul. |

Yeah I emailed them and I guess I can mail them my passport and then get it back in the mail. Geez, it's an expensive visa! |

| China is one of the worst - something like 130,000! Isn't India...50,000 or so? |

The person who wrote me back said I have to pay 121,570 for the visa plus a 6,000 per passport handling fee |

| Ignore what I said. I went to India last year and the fee was 50,000-60,000 (I think), but I just checked the India-Seoul Embassy webpage and it said the same price you just quoted. |
