I do not understand why so many people go nuts over this show. It is the perfect example of mediocre television. There is NOTHING outstanding about it. Hopefully everyone dies this season and the show ends. Congrats public, you continue to have terrible taste.

How dare you dis my Dexter!

It's a great show! At least they show lots of *beep*.

Can I say that? *beep*!...lol

And blood. *beep* and blood. Almost as good as *beep* and beer!

But yea, I'm only 13 years old, so what do I know?

So, HBO shows are the only ones worth watching?

Well, to be fair, that is just a user's rating - very unscientific.

I'm sorry. What would a scientific rating of a TV show look like? Would you scan it for a midichlorian content?

What do people here think about Weeds? Is it very original/interesting?

Are you just joking or do you really not know how the term "scientific" is used in surveys and polling?

No, it's just that these two shows are the two best dramas in maybe the past 5+ years.

Boardwalk Empire is pretty good. I found it because you mentioned it and so I went and looked it up.

Dexter is dull so far and we're like 5 or 6 episodes into the season.

I've enjoyed all the low brow humor in Eastbound and Down. It's pretty funny, if you enjoy that kind of humor.

Anyone here like the new Hawaii Five 0 2010 series? I tried watching the first episode a couple of times and didn't like it too much.

Shit my Dad Says is getting better, but the first few episodes were not great. The supporting roles of the 2 MAD TV alumni are brutal; just awful. Shatner and the other lead are getting better.

I also started watching Blue Bloods with Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg but can't really decide yet if it's any good or not. It tends to be very cliched which irritates me.

Weeds was better a few seasons back. It's gotten ridiculous and may have, "Jumped the Shark" at this point. It's just dumb but I check in and watch parts of it but lose interest quickly.

She really irritates me in Weeds actually. Kind of as much as Dexter's sister, who might be one of the most annoying characters on TV that I've seen in quite a while.

Dexter was an above average show but they must have canned some writers because season 5 is awful

Now that this has evolved into a 'discuss TV shows' kind of thread, I think I should come out and say that I find Mad Men excruciatingly dull.

Seriously, what is the point of this show? Smoking is bad? Women had it hard? People were repressed in the 60s? Advertisers are masters of banality? People had affairs in the 60s? What part of this did the majority of people not already know? I think the real draw is that it shows people who don't know the future, so everyone who is living in it now can sit back and feel superior... I guess some people like to feel that way? Well... of course we do.

I think it's cool that they're basing their series in this time period, but it would be better if stuff actually happened. This show seems to be one of those shows with a knack for always promising more and more hints about what it is that you're watching, and then just when you think you're going to get it, it doesn't happen, or it's something really boring and ordinary...

Still, I keep watching it... I don't even know why.

There are a few TV shows right now that are really worth my time... but the only one I relentlessly obsess over is Breaking Bad. It's got incredible writing and characters, but unlike Mad Men, stuff happens.

It used to be The Shield (I'm not an expert or anything, but that was the best show I've ever seen on TV hands down-- the writing, the characters, the action, the twists... it was awesome)... I've actually watched the entire series three times now, which is super lame but I don't watch a lot of other stuff and it took me a while... there's just so much flying at you.

I don't even know about Dexter... I liked what I saw of Season 2... but I thought the most brilliant part of it was probably the opening credits.

He's not emotionless like a zombie. You can see he wants to react in an emotional way, but he doesn't know how. Although most people don't feel that way their whole life, who here hasn't been delivered a shock and laughed when they were meant to cry?

This is it. This is why I like the show.

Aside from the flash and cleverness, naturally.

I like Dexter. It has some great characters and the storyline is compelling enough to warrant continued viewing.
Other shows I'm watching:

Louie
Weeds
Boardwalk Empire
Fringe (pure sci-fi hocum, but I love it)

I was into Sons of Anarchy before the current season began, but for some reason I now find it overwhelmingly camp. The whole macho biker image just seems really, really gay.

I bought the first season and loved it enough to go out and buy the next 4. I kept watching it halfway through season 3 then I just stopped, I couldn't watch anymore.

It was good for a little bit but it got too far fetched.

Good summary. It was good for a season or two, but that's it. I check in and see that it is gotten pretty dumb. They're now riding around in a motor home with "Jesus" written on it and Andy is still trying to get involved with the Mom. They sell dope along the way under false identities.
