Hmmmm, some more questions if anyone would be so kind.
I've been reading up on pc cases, and the CoolerMaster (Or is it just CoolMaster?) cases always seem to get great reviews. They typically have extra fans and stuff, so if I was to go with one of these cases, would I still want to add an aftermarket cooler?
Was looking at this one too, like the looks, and it has a fan on the top, on the side, and on the back:

So if I go with a case that has like 3 fans, will I still need to buy an aftermarket fan? |

If by 'fan' you mean CPU coler then an upgrade is always advised if you plan on overclocking a bit or even for lots of heavy gaming. The case having extra fans will help remove the heat from the case, but you still need to get the heat away from the CPU core itself, which is where a good CPU cooler helps. decent CPU cooler+Case is the way to go, they help each other then. Benefits are a quiet and cool system if done right.

im in the same boat as the op (have just a laptop and missing playing games) and was wondering if the process is really that simple.
Go to Yongsan and find a computer builder and give them a list of what you want your pc specs to be and they will order it and build it right in front of you?
also i never ordered online in korea before but does it usually take a long time to receive something you ordered? or is there shipping options like america where you can choose fast shipping but cost much more?
Does anyone know roughly how much it would cost for them to build it? If its a lot (like 100-200,000 won), i would much rather learn to build it myself. |

No, nothing like that......I think they only add about 20,000 for the build cost. I might be wrong but it's wouldn't be much more than 20k.
It can be that easy if the parts that you want coincide with parts that are plentiful in Yongsan at that time. But if you want a particular brand and model that they or their associates don't readily have, then they will try to sell you what they have in stock. So be prepared to be flexible if you want to get in and out quickly with as little fuss as possible.
The other option, and best in the long run, is to order the parts from the net and learn to build yourself. It's surprisingly easy and there's lots of step-by-step videos on Youtube to help you. |

Mike, I just bought a Coolermaster 690 II Advanced case for 120,000 online............I'm extremely impressed. It's a really well made case and all my temps are down by about 30% compared to my old case. Highly recommended.

To continue my last question, however:
Is it good enough to drop the cash for a case like this, that is designed to reduce temps? Or, since I am planning on overclocking, should I spring for a cpu cooler regardless? |

Doesn't the 2500k come with a CPU cooler? I will post what I want to buy/build in this thread as well if you don't mind.
AND GUYS. I'M STILL TRYING TO DECIDE ON A GPU!!!! AHHHH!!!!
Now you've got me thinking about radeons...I heard gtx is better than HD right now though... |

Why do they even waste the money throwing it in if it's worthless? I really don't understand companies sometimes. If yuo're going to give me something with an expensive purchase...make it quality.
Also, I'm considering the GTX 560 ti over the GTX460...I heard it can be OC'ed to 570 speeds. |

The stock heatsink fans do the job for 90% of people....only people like us buy aftermarket coolers.
The GTX560ti is a great card....will you be gaming at a high-resolution? Which kind of games....... The alternative would be a Radeon 6870.....a little bit cheaper than the 560. |

Not a direct reply to anyone in this thread, but I'll share my experience when I bought my gaming computer. I bought it in 2008 and from my calculations buying it online cost me pretty much the same as building it myself. My computer was a 2.8 GHz quad with Geforce 9800 GT, just one step below top spec at the time and it all cost less than 1 million. All the components in the computer was at bargain price, but I had some problems later. I got a static electricity shock from pushing the "on" button on the case which fried my motherboard. I didn't even open the case, but there must have been some shabby wiring for static electricity from outside the case to fry the motherboard.
My computer at my lab also have very poor wiring. I sometimes get static electricity from the USB port in the front of my computer which will cause the computer to freeze. After a reboot it's all fine though. My lab computer uses an GMC case (or maybe it's the name of the company that assembled it) while I can't remember the exact name of my home computer, but it sounds something like Chungju-Computers.
My point was to not save money on a cheap case. In my case 2 out of 3 computer cases I've used extensively in Korea have had some serious problems while the last one had a faulty fan.

Yeah I'll be doing 1920x1080 most likely on a 1080p TV. I know you're not a fan of MSI but that one has been getting good reviews AND check out the FACTORY OC! I'm a bit worried about the PSU, but it is 80PLUS Core 630watt (630?!?) but only 70,000. |

Ahh right on, didn't realize the importance of the cpu cooler.
Does anyone have any experience getting a PC built at Kumho World? Those are all over the place right? I popped into my local Kumho World the other day and sat down with a dude and talked prices and availability of parts, everything looked decent. There selection of brands was a little lacking, but there was a couple decent brands to choose from for each component.
Think its worth the trip up to Seoul to go to Yongsan? The added cost of traveling up and back and staying the night will probably erase any savings I may get. At least that's what I've been thinking. |
