Agreed. I am pretty sure Obama will win next year in spite of his performance as President. I just can't see any of the current GOP front runners able to win over independent voters.

I think the following scenario is quite likely: (http://www.270towin.com/2012_election_predictions.php?mapid=bzj)

Hmm.. I am skeptical about its predictions about:

Nevada
Colorado
New Mexico
Virginia

They're all definitley toss-ups and I think a convincing argument could be made for both Romney and Obama.

Of course this is also assuming Romney getting it. If someone more socially conservative than him were to get the nomination, I can't see any of those above states voting in favor of the GOP candidate.

Hey! I'm not an 'it!' That's my map!

I tracked my choices on what I thought was the single most reliable indicator: unemployment. Thus, Virginia stays with Obama because of DC gov't employment and NM because its unemployment is well below the national average, but Nevada and Ohio go Romney. Colorado's unemployment, at the national average, could really go either way. The only exception is New Hampshire, which is a swing state with less than 5% unemployment that Romney may yet net because of his tenure as Governor of Massachusetts.

Bachmann: It's ok to spread lies about vaccines because I never said I'm a doctor

The other day, Michele Bachmann said that the HPV vaccine made someone "mentally retarded," which is not only untrue but also the sort of remark that leads to parents denying their children vaccines that could save their lives.

When confronted on this, after a few days of both liberals and conservatives decrying her, Bachmann did not really apologize or correct the record. Instead, she said it's OK for her to say things like that because she never told anyone she's a doctor. As long as you don't lie about a doctor, you can claim anything you like about medical matters, on TV, and it's OK! (I'm not a doctor but I heard that if you make your baby wear a onesie with a "funny" slogan on it your baby will die.)

From the San Francisco Chronicle:

Nice job, Shelly.

If I hadn't seen the same footage (and more), I'd say it was over the line, too. But as a queer with almost 40 years in the business of being queer, I'd say if Marcus Bachman really isn't a repressed queer, then day is night and night is day.

Look up ego-syntonic and ego-dystonic, vis-a-vis gayness. Intimating that Michelle Bachman's homophobia is related to the fact that she's married to a big ol' queen is germane, politically. Consider that the most natural thing in the world for a psychiatrist who hated the fact that he was gay would be to found a clinic to help people who hated being gay to become not gay.

Michelle Bachmand is stupid enough not to realize that the inevibable secrets of her husband will surface before November 2012. Someone whose c--k he has s--ked will surface.

Ha ha. Lawrence O'Donnel will be vindicated.

Lawrence O'Donnell made a good point. Because of Michelle Bachmann, some conservative mom is going to stop her daughter from getting the vaccine, and someday the daughter is going to get cervical cancer and die. Many political positions have real world consequences. Some worse than others.

UNTIL that dude in an airport bathroom stall who responded to a wide stance surfaces, I do firmly think it is off-limits to question who Marcus Bachmann fantasizes about when he is having sexual relations with his wife.

Straight or gay, it is slimey for Marcus Bachmann to make a living touting a highly, highly dubious 'cure the gay' thing.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a COP who got the Idaho senator into his wide-stance? In that sense, what more surfacing do you require?

So, as long as a queer pretends to be straight, his/her sexuality is off limits? Perhaps I'm wrong, but I've never heard Richarsd Simmons cop to being queer. Does that make him straight?

Screw that. If Marcus Bachman isn't gay, then neither am I. Being gay has nothing to do with what you do with your genitals. It's a state of being. Skilled queers thoughout history have been adept at joining their genitals with people of the opposite sex, but that didn't/doesn't make them any less queer.

I don't know if Marcus has ever sucked ****, but my spidey/gaydar sense tells me he is queer as a three dollar bill. I don't have to let him suck me off to know it's true. It's as clear as his wife's needing to hate queers to justify her life choices.

He may be, and it would go a looooong way in explaining Michelle. BUT...

I'm reminded of Jean Genet. He had a crappy childhood and ended up in a foster home. The family went off one day without him. He had been fascinated by a fancy watch that stayed in a drawer in the living room. He takes his chance, and picks up the watch, admiring it's whatever. Just at that moment, the family returns and finds him holding the watch. The dad says, "You're a thief!" It is an existential moment for Genet. He realizes he is what someone else says he is.

Really?

You're walking down a street late at night. You notice a big black dude walking behind you. You speed up.

Is the big black dude really a threat?

Maybe. Or maybe just in your misapprehension.

It would be HIGHLY entertaining in a smutty kind of way if some guy popped out of the weeds and said he'd gotten his rocks off with Marcus way back when...but until that happens, I don't think it is kosher to label someone just because of a 'feeling'. There were tooooo many people burned at the stake for what they did in other people's dreams not that long ago. I need something more than just someone's gut reaction to convict someone. Cotton Mather didn't, but I do.

Besides, he's just the husband. Michelle herself is the problem and she is falling daily in the polls. She is toast.

All right, FINE. I'll cease and desist labeling him gay. But I won't stop publicly speculating about it, because there is certainly enough going on there for speculation. And because I'm an evil enough person who needs to be seen next Tuesday that I find it all quite delicious.

I mean, how fun would it be if our only consolation during the apocalypse of her presidency would be that we wouldn't have to find a new term for the spouse of the president? heheheh

With Bachmann at 5% nationally, we may need a new "hate-down". I think Perry's next:

This is a hate-down!

There is no crying in baseball!

There is no holding back in a hate-down!
