thanks for the links. I'll be heading back to the states in a couple weeks to get all of my stuff in order, then i'll be making the long haul back to seoul. So it'll be nice to know where to get a good burger(not fast food) while here.
i'm going to miss the burgers from southern california |

Since we're talking about burger joints, I've been really impressed by one called Smoky Grill. They've got a place in Mokdong and it's really good, reasonably priced grub. Burgers run between 6-8,000, fries for 2,000, and soft drinks are free with a burger. The patty is good, bun is decent, and they've got some nice sauces on a couple of them- an In-N-Out style dressing as well as a spicy sauce. Toppings are fresh and the cheese isn't bad either.
Basically exactly what I want from a burger place. Never been into gourmet burgers; seems kinda antithetical to me. |

that's the same with me regarding sam-gip-sal, lol. I have friends/coworkers telling me this or that place has good sam-gip-sal and I just don't get it. I don't think I ever heard a restaurant back home commended for having better bacon |
I literally cannot believe that there are people who live in Korea who still call samgyeopsal "samgipsal". Do you even know how to read Korean? How can you live with yourself being an English teacher and not knowing how to even say such an easy word? Also, what's with the hyphens? |

Ahhh, I always love to hear from an English cop. You are by far the most annoying pricks on chat boards (and in life) in Korea. It is truly pathetic actually, because that is the obvious extent of your achievement. I've been at a bars and had to listen to the next table in the middle of the most mind-numbing debates on punctuation or something equally dull.
And BTW, I'm not an English teacher. Not that there is anything wrong with it. But English teacher like you are such annoying prats. I don't know how you can live with yourself being such an underachiever.
P.S. Most my friends ARE teachers and they share my feelings. Get a life |

Pretty average, bordering on sub-par.

I was gonna try Jacoby's but everyone I've spoken to said the service there is horrible.
I've heard Craftworks food is alright. Its not bad but nothing to rave about. I, myself, have eaten there and while it is good, the food isn't something I would go out of my way to have.
I think Dillinger's does a good burger. Tuesday nights is burger and fries for 5,000. The burgers are thick and very juicy. Make sure to ask for the bacon cheese (cost just a little bit more). At 5,000w, get 2 orders. |
The bad service at Jacoby's didn't bother me when the place wasn't drawing in the crowds. Despite the intensely ugly murals on the walls, the place had a relaxed vibe a few years back, and was solid for throwing back a few cold ones while you wait 30+ minutes for the burger. But once the place started getting regularly packed, it no longer became worth it to me to go there.
Craftworks food, very hit and miss. I heard from a regular that they went further downhill recently due to a new chef or something. But the beer and solid atmosphere are the selling points, they could drop 2/3 of the menu and probably still be just as popular.
I need to check out Dillinger's.

I would recommend Franky's in Hapjeong. It has more of a cafe feel but it does excellent burgers and sandwiches.

It went to hell for a while (I think the Jacoby's owners also ran it, or were buddies with the owners at the time). But it opened again recently, so might be okay again. I haven't been since the reboot. |
