They are probably staring at you because you are staring at them.

Zackback claims to run shirtless on a pretty regular basis, which might have something to do with the staring. |
Yes, I didn't want to say it, but in my many years here I've seen some foreigners that were so freaky looking, it was hard not to stare.

I was seriously wanting to hear similar experiences. For God's sake I know other foreigners have the same experience. I really wanted to hear what others have experienced.

We've all been through it. I mean everyone who is a new arrival to a foreign country wants to take in all of the sites and sounds.
Unfortunately we've all learned very early on that the site of a Korean dude starring at you is one thing that if we could take away from the Korean experience, life would be that much more enjoyable.
So we take it away by not noticing it. Once again from psych 101 kids, behavior has to be reinforced to be continued. If all of these numb nuts aren't rewarded with a reaction from "us" then their behavior will not be reinforced and the behavior will eventually be extinguished.
The problem is that with every noob, we have another person in Korea that will react to the starring, thus reinforcing the behavior. |

| Koreans are weird people. I've caught some of them filming me a couple of times, once when I was standing in a corner minding my own business and doing nothing at some large school function; the woman didn't even care when I glared back at her, and she continued to roll tape with her camcorder pointed directly at me. Welcome to being an animal at the zoo. I had never left Seoul until recently, but when I did, that was an experience. Multiple times, when I was with my ladyfriend, I'd look around to find a lot of people frozen, gazing, and pointing at us (we were a good looking duo), but sometimes it was everyone in an entire restaurant that we were simply standing outside of. She taught me how to say "stop looking at me" in Korean (choda, something, I forget), and I'd randomly yell that phrase at prolonged gazers. I got a kick out of that. I don't know how some of you country folks deal with that stuff day to day, to be honest. I feel like I told this story before on here, but it was probably deleted. Anyway, yeah, prepare to be stared at anytime you're with a Korean woman in public. Most Korean men absolutely hate to see it, we are a pariah to them, but dig in and reel them in while you're here. Change the minds of the women, and your impact will be felt in the long run. Weigukin winning. |

I've found that to be the easiest part. A lot is already rooted. Many of the women I've gotten to know here intimately had some inclination for wanting to hook up with white guys in the first place, obviously. Some of them have told me that Korean guys are unappealing to them, apart from marital purposes, meant to appease their parents. Even the younger, inexperienced girls, who are hesitant initially, give way when you show them an open and honest portrayal of yourself. It's a stark and appealing difference for them in relation to the typical Korean guy game plan . Even if they've never left Korea, they'll laugh with you if you say a funny joke about Korean food smelling like poop. It doesn't matter if you tell them that Koreans love kimchi because it's the only thing that kept them alive for decades, if you say it right. Korean women tend to be a lot more open than Korean men. Variety is the key to life. And there ain't a whole lot of variety here, so soak it up while you can. |

Yes that's right we have this incredible ability to direct our eyes to things that we want to look at.
When I'm in public, I only see the things that I want to see. Kind of like when I'm in the gym and I'm in my own little world. The gym could be burning to the ground and I wouldn't notice until I felt the heat or smelt the smoke.
My point, my friend is to focus on what you want to focus on. I can just picture you talking to some girl all the while looking around to see whose staring at you.

So you get tunnel vision when you walk around with your korean girlfriend so you don't accidentally notice korean guys starting at you. That's wimpy.

Seoul and outside-Seoul are totally different worlds.
Thankfully i'm in Seoul (although it's polluted and overcrowded) so i don't have to deal with that anymore. I remember the pointing, staring, and cat-calling. It used to drive me insane.
Come to Seoul my friend. And things will improve 10 fold. |

Yeah that's normal here. Particularly if she is hot, you are in a very public place, with a bunch of agashi around, especially drunk agashi.
You'll notice Korean women tend to avoid these situations, like she'll move down the subway further where there are isn't a drunk agashi so the two of you can talk without being glared at.
Basic cave man stuff; the local tribe doesn't want their women hanging out with invaders from the foreign tribe. You see it everyone but more so in Korea for sure! |
