| what profession allows you to get paid without turning yourself into an idiot these days? |
I'm legendary for not speaking much, seems normal, however most people chatter away until they can't even remember where they are or what they are doing. That Italian chick, wow. Feel bad for her husband.
Would agree that most professions require one to become a babbling idiot. However I would recommend going slow and creating ones own profession and foundation rather than becoming a tool, that way one does not need to become a babbling idiot. Most people were too busy talking back when it was time to do that. |

| it wouldn't surprise me if attractive young foreign women who wanted to get on to korean tv shows like chatting with beauties were instructed to talk like empty headed valley girl versions of agassis.(IE, lots of giggling, saying "oppa!" and the like) if someone auditioned for the show wearing their hair up, glasses and spoke like an intellectual they may not be chosen for the show. or else instructed to dumb it down. am i wrong in suspecting this? |
Somewhat. Someone here who had some experience with the show claimed it was mostly scripted. Judging from the complete lack of serious criticism and endless depths of praise everyone on the show displays towards Korea, I don't doubt it. |

| TV shows in general are scripted, which is why it's best to not take them seriously. |

There used to be an American guy on who WAY overplayed his (southern area)Korean accent. Think he was/is a lawyer. Think he actually changed his citizenship over to Korean. VERY annoying to listen to, but, as one poster described earlier, probably what he was directed to do by the networks. Clown works.
About the only non-Korean I've ever seen on TV or heard on radio whom I hold any level of respect for is that German dude. Yes, he changed his citizenship, too. He, however, has generally been on the air to voice his opinion, and not to merely 'entertain'.
I do recall one of the regular guests on 'Talking with Beauties' (right title?) who was particularly articulate. If I recall, she was a black woman from the U.S. Her Korean was quite good and she came off as having a lot of class. But, alas, we don't see her on TV anymore. Go figure. Too bad. |

I think she holds/held a relatively high position at Seoul city hall. She might be too busy to do TV anymore. |
