mushroomyakuza- Hi! I think EPIK takes in applications in a week or two.
I'm not too sure so don't quote me on that.
For GEPIK I was told that you need to have all your documents by December.
I am using Korvia as my recruiting agency- I have never heard of KoreaGlobalConnections.
I have heard of Reach2Teach and they generally have mixed reviews. From my research on this site, it seems as though Korvia is a good recruiter for GEPIK.
I originally applied for EPIK Seoul, but after talking to my recruiter- I decided GEPIK was my best bet if I wanted to get anywhere near Seoul.
Seoul is very competitive and I was advised that I might not get placed in Seoul because I do not have any teaching experience.
gdn35 is correct- they removed all high school positions. Your best bet to get into Seoul would be by Hagwon or GEPIK. |

When you say they've closed all high school positions in Seoul, do you mean SMOE gas (which would effectively mean they never longer exist?) or that all Seoul high school positions have closed with Korvia?
Appreciate the replies. For clarity, I'm a Trinity TESOL qualified teacher, have a degree, and have taught for two years in Japan at an eikaiwa. |

For SMOE.
It could change with the upcoming elections, but until then...
Awesome, I just returned home from Japan! I wish you good luck. I hope that you get to go where you want. |

Seoul is very hard to come by in terms of jobs. SMOE have made cut backs in their jobs; removing High School teaching positions.
If you want to get a position in Seoul I'd say your best bet is a Hagwon. If you insist on a Public School position then you could try your luck with GEPIK (which surrounds Seoul) or with IMOE (Incheon, near Seoul). |
Hi Everyone! I'm new to the board as well and wanting to apply to GEPIK.
I was or am in the process for EPIK/SMOE and my recruiter is Korvia. My experienced so far has been pretty good.
My recruiter is Ciena but after discussing with her and how competitive it is to get into SMOE she recommend me to go through with GEPIK instead.
I'm starting to consider doing EPIK as well since I don't want all my eggs in one basket but worried I might be placed in some remote place in Korea since I have no teaching experience. What do you guys think?
I was curious on what everyones bad experience was with Korvia? Bait and switch trick?
And also what the IMOE program was? I never heard of it and wouldn't mind being placed in Incheon either.
Also for GEPIK since Korvia is focusing on EPIK/SMOE applications right now theres not much info on GEPIK...she just told me its generally the same things (documents applications etc) Just a video is also needed. Does anyone know if GEPIK arrival date in Korea is the same as EPIK/SMOE?
thanks!! Sorry for so many questions at once >O< |

| GEPIK does not have a true deadline like EPIK. The reason being is that the schools set their own deadline. A GEPIK contract can start on any day of the year especially if it is funded by the city. They are trying to get all GEPIK funded schools to have start days in September and March though. Even so, if the school is comfortable hiring 2 weeks before class starts they will do that. |
