As for jobs, I think a saying I heard in the film "The Social Network" said it best. If you're smart enough to get into Harvard, you invent a job, not get one.

Not saying everyone on this board could've gotten into Harvard, but perhaps working for Korean employers too long (like I have) might give long-timers other ideas.

Once you have seen the fantastic quality of Asian women it makes going back to the west so much harder.

They tend to want relationships based more on money though. You have to be careful. Forget about a relationship with a Thai woman unless it's a professional woman you met at a work place somewhere in Thailand.

Getting married to Thai women seems like an insanely risky idea, based on what I've seen.

The template goes something like this.

A well off or retired (with quite a bit of savings and a pension) American Canadian, British, German, Swiss, etc. ex-pat marries a Thai woman. Buys a nice house, car and maybe opens a bar or small business for some income.

The wife, normally many years younger than the western ex-pat, has a Thai-Chinese lover and they, along with a few of her lover's friends, murder her husband. Or, her family (e.g., brothers, cousins) helps her murder her ex-pat husband. But it's usually a Thai lover that is involved. They try to burn the body , cut it up or bury it.

The ex-pat, prior to being murdered, mentions that he's got some bad feelings about his gold-digging Thai wife and that something isn't right but continues "keeping on". Many of his ex-pat friends down at the pub and his family back in the U.K. are also aware of the gold-digging wife's behavior. They're worried about him and his safety.

The police finally investigate the Thai wife and her Thai lover and they'e charged with the ex-pat's murder.

The motive for the Thai wife was to collect all of her ex-pat husband's money and take over the house, other property like cars, etc. and to live happily ever after with her Thai-Chinese lover.

Seriously, read the Pattaya Times or whatever it is or check in to the Lonely Planet's Thorntree forums. This happens way too often to ex-pats who've married Thai women. Granted, many of the Thai women that these ex-pats fall in love with and marry are bar girls or go-go girl types of one form or another. Husslers and shysters - by ex-pat men are dumb and lonely and fall in love with them.

Yet, I never hear of Japanese or Korean wives killing their ex-pat husbands!
