This is why I refuse to go to Jeju.

Wow, travelling is only about shopping on the cheap and saving your money? I've been doing it wrong all this time, going to see the sights and such... |
Did I ever say that? Why are you putting words in my mouth? I was merely saying that you get more for your money when you visit Thailand (I didn't have to mention the sites in my post because it is a given that Thailand is better. Perhaps I should have made that a little more clear for the slow folks.). Seriously, why would you want to visit Jeju Do instead of say Thailand or Laos or Vietnam? You are stuck in this country all year long. There really is not much to do in the way of tourism. So no *beep* head, you have not been doing it wrong.
Zyzyfer tell me about some of the famous Jeju sites |
You're awfully feisty for someone who makes a living off the reading predilections of said beepheads, aren't you? I thought you were trying to court us, not turn us away. |
I do not try to court anyone. I am not a politician. I just sell books. I am not going to stand aside while people try to make me look stupid, which was Zyzyfer's intent. When someone does, I am going to lash out at them just like anyone else would. The funny thing is, I am one of just a hand full of people that are known on this site as an actual person and every time I say something that is the least bit controversial, I get jumped on and not attacked for what I said (most of the time), but attacked as I should just lay down and take it because I am trying to woo the masses to come to my store. |

Z wasn't trying to make you look stupid. He made a tongue-in-cheek comment about there being (perhaps) more important things than budgeting your trips out the wazoo. It's a valid opinion and just because he did it in a humorous manner is no reason to feel personally targeted. You overreacted, and you can't blame us for wondering if the owner of a bookstore treats his customers (which all of the users here are, potentially) in the same manner when he meets them face to face. What if we say something you feel personally attacked by? |

By saying you refuse to go there, I'm assuming that you haven't been there yet. If you have, the point is pretty much moot, because you've been there and done that; however, it sounds like you're sitting around comparing packages when you haven't actually gone to Jejudo. Meanwhile, it sounds like you make it a regular habit to keep going to the same country every summer, like some sort of ritual. Why don't you go somewhere new? If I went to the same place every year for holidays I'd be uptight, too.
As far as putting words in your mouth, read your post again and show me where you're not comparing the cost or shopping experience of each trip?
I also find it amusing that you'll rampantly advertise your bookstore while getting all fired up and defensive because of a little criticism on here. It's not exactly good business practice...I'm quite anxious to go to the store where the owner calls people *beep*heads. |
No I have not been to Jeju, nor do I plan to in the near future. But from what I hear, it is not tropical paradise and is over priced. The reason for my post.
If you cannot see how you were putting words in my mouth, I will explain it a little more clearly for you. I did my comparision on things that take up the bulk of someone's budget when on vacation. You took this as that I would not care about the sights of a given area, that is not true. I believe it is obvious to most people that Thailand has more to offer in the way of tourism (sight seeing) than anywhere in Korea. It is plainly clear in the numbers of tourists Korea gets vs. the number that Thailand gets.
Again, you make another blind assumption that I go to the same place again and again. I was using Thailand as an example, I believe that most people can figure out for themselves that the same can be said about many other countries around Thailand.
I do not mind criticism. But blind assumptions get me fired up. |

Ok Corporal, I can live with/accept that. While I do not agree that he was doing it in a humorous manner, I can admit that I overreacted by calling him a shit head (I wasn't using the male sex organ if thats what you are thinking) The one thing that gets me fired up on this board is when people always make blind assumptions on what people write and take it and twist it to make themselves look funny or "cool". |

ya your right loser, Im making this up. Go to the Goodmorning Inn to see a hotel for 70,000. I understand about the goig rate for the taxi, that is not what was quoted to me and written down. and Many people were very friendly. Even the woman who refused to give me my change back was smiling. WHy so defensive?? You react like I attacked you personally.

First of all, I'll start but saying the good morning Inn is a four star tourist hotel, It is not a yeogwan or a minbak. This is also information that is readily available from any travel agent. If you had read my post without having already decided upon your response, you would have noticed that I said yeogwans and minbaks in the tourist season for 40,000 won. However you suggested that you knew the difference, interesting. There is nothing worse then trying to have a rational converstion with people who only wait for there turn to speak rather then listen to what is being said.
It seem obvious to me that you took about one minute to plan for your trip, took the first offer from said travel agency, then when it all went bad for you, which must have been completely unexpected considering your obvious meticulous nature then decided to get revenge by warning all other travelers not to come here. Way to go!!!! You show'em!!! Go girl!!!!!
My response to your sensless. childish, drivel was written in a calm and mature manner. Nobody attacked anyone, nor demonstrated even an iota of defensiveness, until you called me a loser so now I ask you, who's the defensive one? Who's the loser?
What's wrong queencarmie, can't seem to find anyone to give you any up there? All pent up are we? Feel the need to lash out, huh? After a long days work at the kiddie hogwan that "just isn't all it was supposed to be" can't wait to get on the ol' ESl cafe to "anonymously" show these people where they went wrong, eh? Typical. You know, I'm often asked what it is that I don't like about Korea and the answer is waygooks like you. You've been nowhere know nothing but think you know everything.
At least this "loser" has the common sense and general knowhow to go to immigration and ask about my travel options. You didn't even know about a re-entry permit, perfect example of you're naivety. Is this where your anger stems from? Been here a month and think you're a prisoner, do we? You even went so far as to (I hope jokingly but with people like you who knows) mention "swimming to china to avoid immigration". Whose the loser?
I'm guessing by your tone that this is the first time in your life you've ever had to do anything for yourself. Typical Daddy's girl (or Mamma's boy, but who cares?) It's the only possibility because you've demonstrated with this public display of childishness that you are a moron. You are typical travel trash, someone who forms a negative opinion of a country or region based on two things, a short three-day visit and and a stamp in your passport, pathetic.
My suggestion to you is that next time, before you start flaming, (For you other posters out there, I do realize that this is flame bait and that this person is a troll but I couldn't resist.) you take a long hard look at yourself before calling people you don't know anything about names. I'm sure you're real tough in person. Get a life.
Just as you know, A reply to this will not be forthcoming. "Go from the presence of a foolish man when thoust not percieveth in him, the lips of knowledge." Or in other words, don't waste your time arguing with an idiot.
You stand corrected and thoroughly rebuked,
Canadaman
