Hey wrong.......
calm down,. Things in Korea are not the same as at home. And yes, lots of things we are made to do we consider stupid. Relax. Just one reminder, note that it is not legal for u to work in more then one place unless it is on your E2. |

I agree completely with Pecan here.
After reading the OP's post, my feelings are that the director was talking about cleaning the classroom too. Perhaps that's why he was upset when, after hearing alot of noise, he walked in the classroom and saw the game taking place.
It seems unlikely for a few reasons that the director would remind the OP to 'keep the room clean'. First... the director doesn't know what your apartment conditions are like. Secondly... the director is concerned about his school first and foremost, and everything else is probably at the back of his mind while at work. Third... the OP went into the entire conversation with the director, in a 'huff'... sorry I should have said 'confrontation'... because a conversation was never what she wanted in the first place. So because she went into the conversation in fight mode, she figured, her boss was going to fight back... and make a counter request concerning the washing machine. When, in fact, the director probably only wanted to tell her that games of the sort played will make too much noise and make the classroom messy. Next time don't approach conversations with so many presuppositions before hand. Listen to what they really say, don't mold their words around what you've already thought they'll say.
I've seen this overall situation unfold many times before. The teacher knows they've done something wrong, such as an early game and regrets it... and so they try to turn it around on the director, like the OP did, and ask for a washing machine to avoid criticism. Are we still in highschool here? Walk into his office and take criticism as you should.... with your head held high, and an apology, and perhaps ask him if he can offer you some teaching tips to keep the kids under control. I bet he'd be more than happy, if you'd admit your difficulties, at taking in the trouble students to his office to give them a behavior speech, if you'd just swallow your own pride and ask the man for some 'help'.
And I agree, it's pretty standard for all employees to have their accounts set up at the same bank and probably one pretty near to your workplace. The funny thing is, the OP probably 'thanked' the employer for doing it at the time.... and only now chooses to villify his actions, because it doesn't suit her perfectly now.
And as for the OP knows her director best... as she said, she only teaches one class there a day. I think it might just be possible that she allowed stories of poor directors to influence her perception of this one. Poor guy... never had a chance with some teachers. |
