Wow.

I am obviously on planet rye. You're right.

But why did you make it seem like it was an issue over the "E?"

Why did you re-write it as "wir konnen?"

Oh, drop it.

I actually wrote "konner?" What is this, Denmark? Argh. I question my manhood.

Because I was going bonkers. The 'e' has to be there whatever (only the imperfect indicative of koennen drops the umlaut) (we'd be adding a t to put it into the conditional mood here, if I'm finally thinking correctly).

There's a theory that it's impossible to post something onto the internet correcting someone else's spelling and/or grammar without making some kind of mistake as well. I guess this thread illustrates that quite nicely... Smile

If this were a pub debate I'd be buying you a pint about now - this is a real drawback of such exchanges on internet discussion boards.

That is a good theory. Done and done.

The rest of you are still wrong.

Thread about parents asking for degrees-->Grammar police-->debate on the usages of German and French.

One of the day's more interesting eslcafe tangents, I must say.

Maybe your director should ask to see the ajumma's bank accounts-just to make sure they are able to pay for their childs education long-term.
