Why can't you find another role? There are hundreds to apply for.

I don't want to work at a hagwon. Been trying for public schools but I really can't find anything outside of EPIK. EPIK isn't hiring for Gyeonggi-do this August and since so many people want Seoul, I don't have a high chance.

I'm only looking into this position because it's a non-teaching job but still tangentially related and I wouldn't be opposed to try something new.

ah, that worries me. I want to try this job out but i keep reading that they can let you go if they feel that your performance is not up to par in 1~3 months. It would suck going through the trouble and expense for a CRC and then having it rendered useless if I get let go...

I would always carry extra copies of apostilled degree, TEFL certificate, and FBI checks.

Also good to carry extra copies of fingerprint cards (with your prints on them) as they are good for a year and a half. Then you can send those to an approved channeler and get your apostilled CBC back to you in a reasonable amount of time. …Just for future reference. Though I think these precautions have been the norm in Korea for some time.

Are they cheap in the US?! They are expensive in Canada and Korean immigration requires them to be under 6 months old. I don't have money to burn to have even an extra copy and you have extra copIES?

Do I need my TEFL to be certified? I think not, right? I think I lost my original and I know it says on EPIK's website that I need to bring the original when I get to Korea but do I really? I have a digital copy. If I print it on nice, heavy paper would that be ok?

The FBI check is only good for six months but the fingerprint cards (with your prints on them) are good for a year and a half…at least in the US. You can check with whoever runs your background check in Canada how long your prints are valid for.

But getting your prints taken are pretty cheap. and they have a longer life span than a criminal background check.

As for the background check itself, I’d only carried (at most) four copies. There’s no point to carrying more because they aren’t valid long enough.

How expensive the background check is…getting them directly from the FBI isn’t bad. A channeller is more expensive, but that would be a last resort if you needed the background check in a hurry.

Last I remember, my TEFL cert needed an apostille, too. State-level (or whatever the Canadian equivalent is) is fine. No expiration on those (same as your apostilled degree).

Yeah, Canada doesn't do apostilles. We have to go to a notary public to get it notarized.
