Other than JongnoGuru early on (before he got with the program) and mathews_world recently, most posters have stayed with the spirit of the thread.

Here's a summary, along with my take on them.

Quote:

1. VITA-500 ... it's alright; i prefer the plentitude of fresh mandarin oranges
2. dongdaemun market ... never been there
3. faux hardwood floors ... beats carpet, yes.
4. the price of soju ... makes dinner and drinks soooo cheap for a group
5. grilled bacon (pic) ... i don't eat it for breakfast anymore!
6. bibimbap (pic) ... mmmm
7. dubu djigae (pic) ... i'm a big fan of spicy salty stews
8. woman smoking (pic) ... i don't "know" any
9. heated floors ... feet on ondol in the winter, ohhh yeah
10. my work-day starts at 3:40pm ... mine at 3 pm, 1 pm often to prep
11. gimchi ... becomes addictive
12. after-service ... freebies? i almost take them for granted now
13. 24 hour society ... maybe in the big cities
14. Galbi, pulgogi, et. al. ... bulgogi? ... when marinated is yummy
15. Yangnyom chicken ... not sure what that is
16. ̰ ... i don't read Korean, it's quite easy to function without
17. Hiking ... great trails, tons of places to do it
18. off beat websites with forums dedicated to foreigners... few ESL countries have such active forums
19. Helpful attitude from most random people... so many acts of kindness
20. the price of rice makkoli ... great with dinner
21. public baths / hotsprings ... especially hot springs
22. sitting on the floor in restaurants ... i now prefer it
23. ubiquitous internet ... more than i could've imagined, and cheap
24. cheap & convenient taxis ... compared to back home, absolutely
25. smokers & drinkers arent considered social deviants ... true
26. lucrative work & negligible taxes ... on a per-hour basis yes
27. no tipping ... i do anyways with pizza and taxis, not restaurants
28. no beggars, persistent touts, or pickpockets ... i hear about it but haven't seen any myself
29. war & terror-free... in a post-9/11 world, yes, I feel safer here
30. 4 distinct seasons! ... ? six! if you include the distinct rainy and typhoon seasons
31. Lotte Original Chic Choc cookies... haven't tried them, yet.
33. With luck, toilet paper in the washroom. ... at least wet naps at the dinner table
34. Nobody seems to give a damn, about anything... not sure, but I do feel less demands
35. Who needs logic and imagination! ... in jest, but, the profound contrast with back home is refreshing to me

37. the Lesser Panda at the Seoul Grand Park zoo... never been there
38. cheap and easily accessible snowboarding ... so I've heard
39. People that pay 50 bucks an hour or more to sit around and have a conversation with me! ... hard to believe sometimes, yeah
40. Non-stop traditional festivals every month throughout the year... for sure!
41. Andong Mask Dance Festival ... this year I promised
42. Korean traditional folk (not court) music ... i like the drumming
43. mask dancing ... fascinating
44. hapkido and taekkyon ... i don't know these words
45. the great friends I've met ... has renewed my faith in humanity
46. all the stuff I've learned here ... more than i realize, every day something new
47. hwajangshil ajummas ... ajumma in general! reminds me of ukranian babushka
48. knowing exactly how much something is going to cost (no extra tax)... yep
49. Haggling like a madman to get a reasonable price ... in jest, but that is fun sometimes
50. Free goodies with purchase! ... especially at the bakery
51. The relative ease with which one can trump "the competition" simply by delivering what you promised and by doing people the supreme if rare courtesy of not jerking them around.... in jest, but that's why I'm still at the same hagwon: my director is gold.
52. Being the tallest guy at a 300+ person social event. I'm 5'11".... 6'1", is giant for me at ajumma markets.
53. Cheap subway! ... and pretty useful, in Busan anyways
54. Late night pizza delivery ... really? 11 pm cut-off in my town
55. Free Korean lessons ... i've been meaning to, but haven't
56. No Indian summer ... quite warm long autumns here on the southeast coast
57. conveniently located Mountain where I can procure spring water ... taste better than Evian.

59. Meat On A Stick - when I'm sure it's chicken i enjoy it
60. relative absence of violent crime ... against me anyways
61. chicken roasting trucks ... i have shed a tear in joy at it (after too much soju)
62. foil wrapped rolls of kimbap on the morning subway ... while walking to work, yeah
63. gorgeous co-worker eye candy ... if you like the type(s)
64. When I'M sixty-four, I can tell my grandchildren about the time I hung out on the roof eating persimonns and sam gyeop sal while deftly deflecting attempts to be used as a free English lesson... love roof surfing

77. Noraebang ... was high on my list the first year I was here
78. tabangs and cute coffee girls ... dunno
79. The option to leave. ... in jest, but... free airfare and ESL opportunities worldwide open up with experience here
80. I like those bingbong buttons on the table to fetch a server... i do too though an abrasive loud "ajumma!" is fun when sojued up
81. "Hellooooo!" ... especially from little kids and groups of girls (i feel like a rock star)
82. Koreans incessantly crossing my path... in jest, but i do like the busy feel in general

and I'll add one:
