That is not a choice you get to make. As long as you are spouting insults at anyone who chooses to be an activist (please note activist does not equal extremist), you will have me here to call you on it. I consider your kind of response dangerous along the lines of: All that is necessary for evil to be done is for good [people] to do nothing. [sic]
This is what you advocate. In past decades I would have agreed with you that polite discourse is preferable; all the way up to Bush's second election "win." I found Bush's attacks on the character of McCain, et. al., to be repulsive. He does the same to anyone who disagrees with him, calling them unamerican, unpatriotic, etc. You do the same to people who disagree with you.
But it is time for action, not reams of data. |

Yeah, that's right.
And you chose Dave's ESL Cafe as your medium to bring about action and set the world on fire.
Good for you.
Keep posting these threads which highlight your moderate views as an effective political activist...

Why is saying "I did not vote for W. Bush, do not agree with his political objectives and methods, have always disagreed with the Iraqi regime change, and look forward to (hopefully) a Democratic victory in 2008" not going far enough for people on this board? Why is it not sufficient for me to disagree with W. Bush; and why must I hate him to prove that I am a Democrat? |
Why is it not sufficient? Because you go above and beyond what you're claiming.
When it's obvious that appointing someone who's head of the Arabian Horse society as head of FEMA is wrong, you cite JFK. That doesn't make it right.
When preparedness for Katrina is clearly inadequate, you accuse people of saying Bush caused the hurricane. That is what you've done, is it not?
I don't want to misquote you.
In a discussion of what to do about Iran, you dismiss me summarily as anti-US.
In the same week, editorials in the most prominent of US media clearly demonstrate that I'm not alone in my opinion.
You clearly didn't have your facts straight when you talked about "impeachment" and who does or doesn't support it.
You unequivocally state that Bush will not be impeached, then call for an investigation of White House misdeeds.
I'm not asking you to hate anyone. I'm asking you to be accountable for your statements. |

Don't hold your breath. He's dodged every direct challenge I've ever made to his BS. |
