England played horribly, but are still in it. I can see them beating Portugal, meaning they can conceivably make the semifinals without once hitting anything resembling form.
And their style of play? Maybe they are the new Greece.... |

| Beckam has a suberb cross, one of the best in the game. And he does this plenty of times from open play not just set play. He also has great positional sense, always in the right place. And he steadies the team. I can't see a better replacement. And I believe it's just trendy to rag on him cause he's famous and a bit of a *beep*. That's what I think. |
He has a superb cross, when he is in form. When he is not, he is virtually invisible. As for always being in the right place, this was certainly not the case when he was supposed to be marking the man that scored Sweden's first goal. But you are right, there is no direct replacement for him. Let him start the next game, but if he turns in another poor performance, then he should be taken off for Lennon, who may actually trouble their defenders with his pace. Having a man on the pitch who is there simply to deliver crosses and score free kicks (once every 3 years) is simply not good enough. |

England have had it easy.
The only think remarkable about England this world cup is how tame their opposition has been. Luck of the draw i guess, but they haven't met any tough teams yet.
C'mon. Trinidad, Paraguay, ecuador and a lacklustre Sweden have hardly tested England. neither will Portugal, who only pushed out holland thanks to a poor refereeing red card fiasco.
England are set up for a humiliation in the semi. |

| Essexboy, I'm not much up on all the soccer teams but I caught that Beckham goal against Ecuador (also a pretty good team it seems). Now I see why they call him the best at what he does, the man has TALENT. Wow! |

It's funny how people on here kept saying Ecuador were one of the best teams in the Cup until England beat them. Now they're saying the same team is poor opposition. Seems to me people just hate the English for no apparent reason.
A win is a win. Doesn't matter whether you win by an inch or a mile. It's all the same.
You have to be in it to win it, and England most certainly still are in it! |

To be fair, Ecuador were terrible yesterday. England just happened to be marginally less so. You don't need bias to see England are playing a poor game of football at the moment. |

You caught me. I have a complex.
But you can put one thing in the bank.
When your team loses--a fact which is as inevitable as death and taxes--I will be right here to make fun of you guys.
And I'm going to enjoy myself.
It's nine am US central time. The bars are opening. I'm off to drink beer and watch the game.
And you better pray you win today. If you fail, I will tease you for the next four years. |
If we lose, then we lose. Why people have to gloat and rub it in is beyond me. I suppose you must have some irrational hatred of the english that fuels your immature behaviour.
I have more important things to worry about than your messages on these forums. No one cares about your opinion right now. |
Whaaaaa!
You Englishmen are so arrogant. All you do is come here and put everyone else down. South Korea can't play soccer. America can't play soccer. Koreans are ingnorant jerks. Americans are brainless fat asses. England is everything.
But you're not. You suck just like the rest of us.
Can't you hear the clock ticking till you're eliminated. It might be against Portugal. That's another 50-50 game.
If it's not against Portugal, it will most certainly be against Brazil. They could beat your country with 10 men.
And I'm going to be there to gloat and make fun of you. You can put that in the bank.
Why? Because it gives me pleasure. It's a hoot.
Tick. Tick. Tick.
When this tournament is over, I still have baseball and real football to fall back on. What will you have? Oh, yes. The EPL--where Chelsea will win hands down because some billionaire from Russia can afford the talent.
Who knows. Maybe Manchestor United will give them a run. After all, they are now owned by a billionaire from America who can afford talent.
When England loses, I will be right here to make fun of you. |

Yes, because they really dominated against Croatia and Australia didn't they? England have played poorly, and people love to criticise them, but I don't think many other countries have set the tournament alight. Even Argentina, the champions elect, should have gone out to Mexico the other night. Italy have also been remarkably poor...they couldn't even beat a 9 man USA! But of course, everyone loves to criticise England.
This tournament is wide open, although England will have to up their game considerably if they are to go further. |

Don't get all analytical.
I don't care who beats England and how well they play.
I just care that the job gets done so I can make fun of Spinoza and his buddies. I'm licking my chops for the opportunity. |

Actually the Glazier family has put Man Utd in heavy debt and it is a move hated by 90% of fans. |
