Because Koreans don't eat breakfast! ...

There are few places that serve breakfast, almost NONE in smaller cities, except for the 24/7 places which serve lunch and dinner meals around the clock.

I don't know about "24/7" places, but with every big Korean employer I worked for, there was a huge cafeteria right on the premises or nearby. And hundreds of Korean employees would eat their breakfast there every day. Multiply that by 100s upon 100s of similar corporate cafeterias across the city, plus the countless school cafeterias, etc. You'd buy discount packets of meal tickets, with breakfast/lunch/dinner each having their own colour. Little paper stubs, as cheap & nasty as a paper bus transfer.

The fact is, bajillions of Koreans eat breakfast every morning, and they eat breakfast outside the home. It's just that they're not eating it at McDonalds or Burger King -- they're eating it at these cavernous, colourless, drab, interchangeable, institutional cattle troughs. They all have one name: 식당. The ones where they eat lunch & sometimes dinner, too. Wearing their uniforms.

I just dont get people who b*tch about the lack of food from home. No this, and no that. If you cant do without certain foods, then stay at home!!!
For me, thats the beauty of moving around a bit, I find new favourite foods in each country, and then I have something to look forward to when I come back. There is not much food I miss from my home country, but when I actually do go back, oohhhh how good it tastes!

And I dont expect Koreans to like it and sell it just because I like it. People really need to get over themselves here. Take whats on offer, the variety and prices in Seoul are for me much better than any North American or European city. You dont feel like a fat pig after eating it either.

And McDonalds breakfast??? To me, thats just grease on top of grease. Must admit I have enjoyed a few in the US when I have been there though.... Its just part of blending in I guess Smile

Maybe they dont serve breakfast because they dont want to end up on the fast track to obesity!

No, I'm fairly sure that's not why.
