And Flagwaver: thanks for imparting a truly ingenious joke. Both clever and funny. I think someone dragged the punchline out a little too much though. As soon as I realised the two jackasses had been set up I laughed out loud. The subsequent embellisments only detract from the point.

Damn.

Damn, you can't even read a funny post without making an inane issue out of it. Your sadness overwhelms me.

EDIT: And your whole, "I nominate all to join my clique," just screams of a fear of being unloved. I don't hate you. Stop the tears.

1. Spot on.
2. The point was that the joke is not funny to those with taste.
3. Your points are funny considering the context of the whole clique thing.
4. You're in!

If TMKATM doesn't agree with your sense of humour you should probably take it as a compliment.

Flotsam is just needy. Like the bully in the sandbox, it's actually a cry for help.

I was hoping that post would get me in. Shit hot! Oh, and you're not really sad, just annoying. That won't get me excommunicated, will it?

At least give credit where credit is due. Plagarism is never funny.

As I mentioned recently in another thread, I once plagerised the FlagWaver and I thought the results were DAMNED FUNNY. But Homer didn't think so, and the incident erupted in a humourous (to me) storm of sock accusations & denials. Is it worth explaining? Mmmm-nahhh. I'm sure this thread about somebody liking one of the FlagWaver's posts is far more interesting... as I'm about to find out right now.

I didn't thing it was worth the effort either.

Okay. In keeping with this thread's "not funny nor interesting" theme, here you go.

I think you already know most of the details from that other thread. The FlagWaver had a sort of running-gag mock-apologist rant that he was peppering the board with for a short while. The way it worked was, somebody -- always a level-headed poster, never a hothead Korea-basher -- would post about some unhappy run-in they'd had with the locals in a "My 'Bad Korea' Day" sort of vein. Then the FW would drop this little "mock-apologist" turd on them (always the same refrain, though tweaked slightly to fit each situation) about how he doubted their story was true, told them to get off their "West Is Best" high horse, and reminded them that they're not in Canada anymore.

His fake-rant was pretty funny, but even funnier was when some of his unsuspecting "victims" took him seriously and took strong exception to his condescending accusation of "liar!" All indignant and ready to scrap, they'd lash back at the FlagWaver. Of course the Apologistas hated him for doing this, but it was chuckleworthy reading for everyone else.

So I decided I wanted to play along too. I paraphrased FW's infamous stinkbomb and dropped on somebody's head. I wasn't attempting to pass it off as my own work; I'd figured the whole board had seen the FW post it plenty of times and know that I was cribbing. Well, Homer stumbled upon my post, and it annoyed him enough to PM me with two misapphrensions. It took an exchange of PMs stretching past midnight to convince him otherwise. I think were it to happen today, I'd tell him or any poster to "Believe me or not. Good-bye". But for some reason, at that time in my residency here I was oddly desperate not to be misunderstood. (Oh Lord, please don't let me...)

I've gotten in more than my fair share of cheap digs at the Koreans, so it wasn't totally unreasonable but that Homer might assume: 1) That I was actually the FlagWaver and I'd forgotten to switch out of "Guru mode" and into "Sock Mode" when I posted that ditty; and 2) I was specifically intending to mock Homer by it. (Turns out that was the FlagWaver's intention with the mock rant, but I didn't know that when I plagiarised it.)

"I expected better of you than this, Guru" -- remember than one, Homer! Smile I've deleted In & Sent boxes many times since, so I'm just going on memory.
