Αντε Παιδειά! Ζηλεύω, πολυ. Εχω Παντρευτεί έναν απ'την Κρητη και αν είχα οικογένια ελληνική, η ζωή μου θα ήταν μιά χαρά. Λιπον, τι να κάνω;

Εχω πάει μιά φορά στο Μαράθονο, αλλά όχι στην παραλία, γαμώ το.

Συγγνώμι για τα ελληνικά μου -- μαθαίνω ακόμα.

Γειά.

It took me almost five minutes to read that Daskalos. Never went to Greek school but my mom taught me to read on a really basic level when I was in high school. I can speak with a fluent accent, but on a 9th grade level. I got everything except οικογένια - didn't understand that word, maybe we can take it to pm?

If my ancient Greek isn't too rusty, I think it means, "Hey, big boy! Wanna date?"

Okay... that definitely needs to be reserved for PMs.

Don't be silly. As I say, my Ancient Greek is all but nonexistent, but these days οικογένια just means family. A rough translantion, in Modern Greek, of "Hey big boy, wanna date?" is "Ελα Λαβέντις, πιδεσέ με." Though my rough translation is considerably more lewd than some might render it.

Ya-ta: Laughing Laughing That was funny man!

Daskalos:
Eikoyenia - οικογένια -- got it. Now it makes sense. thanks man, I just didn't want to keep hijacking his thread... Laughing

One last thing Daskalos, from what I read in your post and pm - your Greek is really, really GOOD. My accent is near fluent like I said before, but it's on a 8th- 9th grade level in vocabulary. Also, I haven't been using it in the last 20 years except to talk to my grandmother, so it's as good as gone unless I start practicing. Don't get me wrong, I can hold a conversation, but I can't use big words.

I'd love to work and live in Greece again, but tell the truth - since I only lived there in my childhood and early adolesence, I'd be afraid I'd be thrown to the wolves so to speak...if you guys think the Koreans are bad, I've heard that Greeks are 100 times worse. But, that's just heresay from a bunch of Greek guys in Los Angeles.

Speaking of practicing your Greek, maybe I can lend you this book if you haven't already read it...I think a lot of people have heard of Nikos Kazanzanki - Escape from Greco. It's obviously in Greek....

Kazantakis rocks. I loved his "Freedom or Death", "Fratricides" and "The Last Temptation of Christ". I tried "Report to Greco" but couldn't get into it. Probably just my mood at the time. He's one of the best writers NOT to win a Nobel.

On DVD in Itaewon last week.

Looks awesome on a 40" flatscreen t.v.!

A very tired storyline though. Just a lot of eyecandy. But I didn't like Gladiator and thought Sin City was just okay so I shouldn't have had my hopes up.
