freethought:
Well, although we seldom agree, at least you have the strength of your convictions (especially as it relates to the crucial need for free speech).
I've said this before but it bears repeating:
All idealogues (i.e. extreme right and left) favor censorship at some level. The difference as I view it--and as one who in his youth was very liberal--is that those on the far right at least tend to be forthright about their exclusionary practices while most on the far left try to mask them.
And liberals, who are neither far left or often moderate in their views, are less likely to have the strength of their convictions.
Which is why I wouldn't characterize you as a liberal.
Hillary (not Bill, mind you) is a bonafide liberal, which is why I so utterly disdain her.

C'mon, guy, you're sharper than you let on. You know very well that threads can be deleted before many even see them.
In my case, three threads on the very same topic (with only the titles reworded) were recently deleted from the General Discussion Forum. What irked me was that the topic was NOT redundant, inflammatory, or accustory. The topic did, however, call into question some Korean habits I'd observed.
I received only the notice that my thread either "did not exist" or had been moved. Neither was the case, as I made clear in PMs to several mods. A few mods replied, asking me which forum and thread title but I heard nothing more about it. Even a simple, "We looked into it and don't know" would have sufficed.
Coincidental? Not with three threads posted on the same topic all being deleted in less than a day. So perhaps a rogue moderator decided to delete arbitrarily? Who knows....
This isn't meant to be a matter of whine as you dine, by the way. |

Yes he is rather. Cute - but sometimes bloody infuriating! He makes you go - all in the same time. But, due to his high cuteness factor, it always comes back to: |

Maybe so. But let's not forget that some of the moderators have been unprofessional by first disclosing a PM and then posting their little digs at whim. Seems to me if they can dish it out they ought to be able to take it.
But I don't expect fairness. I realized a long time ago that more than a few mods on this board permit their own personal allegiances and political biases to influence how they regulate posters.
And when it comes to leftists, they'll censor faster than those on the right. |
Does anyone find this hysteria over being mistreated just a TAAAAAAD hypocritical? FWIW, stevie, he said far worse to me.
Grow a pair, eh? Can't stand people who dish at every turn, but whine when dished on. |

Agreed. The Archie Bunker act is so 1983. The only reason why we keep this guy around is to act as a reminder for the rest of you younger posters to get your act together now before you wake up one day in your 50s and find yourself needing to talk down to others in an internet forum, so you don't feel so miserable about how things turned out. Types like Steve are dime a dozen on internet forums.
Anyways, off to the mod forum to talk about the badass users who aren't pushovers and need to be shown the door. |

No, man, no. Although Gopher, it would appear, is in the midst of a meltdown, is boring.
The supreme point of irony in this thread is the title of the thread. |

Then why is the "decline" of religion always the cause for you and your ilk. Other countries have even less religion in public life (France, Canada, England) and yet they don't have these problems on these scales. Why is that?
I'll stop calling you a bible thumper when you stop using it to thump away at arguments with. |
Better yet, swish-stop making fallacious statments and finidng nothing but prepositons to en them WITH.
ps Octavius, thank you for not starting this thread ALL IN CAPS-it's idiotic and a cry for attention

Gopher. This thread is about you. Are you listening? I fear it's too late for BJWD, but you are still salvageable. |

Huffdaddy: you speak for the mods? You say they will soon ban BJWD? How do you know this? Do the mods gossip with you? In any case, this thread stopped being about me a long time ago, Huffy. I am surprised to see it has rambled on for this long; that people have not moved on to bigger and better things.
The one good thing about it is the precedent it has set. Now we can start threads expressly dedicated to taking shots at other posters; we can even count on mod participation if the politics are right... |

I don't know if I agree with your assessment of your own posts their Steve-O.
I think I was witness and contributor to at least two of those threads, and they were both VERY redundant, inflammatory and accusatory to my mind.
You're probably right in thinking you're being targetted by the mods with some comments from the mod team aimed at you (I think Poktanju's last post was about you rather than Gopher), but for all the ill-will on display here, you should at least give them some credit... They might censor some of your comments, and with good cause in my opinion, but you're still here. They're allowed to disagree with you, and, apparently, you're allowed to disagree with them. |

No. I mean BJWD is already more interested in "liberal hypocrisy" than the actual issues. At least you still seem to show occasional interest in the issues. |

It looks to me, then, that this thread is really about people who identify with liberal politics taking advantage of an opportunity to bash via personal attack those who reject liberal politics or who openly embrace conservative politics.
No new information here, Huffy. Not helpful. Not constructive. Indeed, petty. |

Yes, I am sharp. Sharp enough to know the plural of "anecdote" is "anecdotes", not "data". Your fallacy is the argument from final consequences. "I'm right politically. My posts were deleted. Therefore there's an anti-right bias."
So you've had three deleted? I've had four or more.
Where is your evidence of a pattern? You cherry pick the posts deleted that confirm your belief and ignore the posts deleted that don't confirm your belief. |
