Now if it had a decent GPS instead of Google maps then that would be amazing!
Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't the Nespot PDA phone that came out a couple years ago and have similar IPod features, except with possible the GPS. They were going for around 800,000 at the time. |

Now what is it that these phones have that the yet to be release iPhone doesn't have?
|
Well, the entire Mac OS X interface, for a start. 'Doh-pods depend on Windoze Mobile. 'Nuff said. |

iPhone controversy
According to reports, LG Electronics is accusing Apple of stealing the concept of its much-hyped iPhone from LGs own Prada model.
Woo-Young Kwak, head of LG Mobile Handset R&D Center, said at a press conference,
Though Apples iPhone and LGs Prada were launched a few weeks apart, LG released the design and concept about a year before Apple did,[4] and claims that "Apple has stolen the concept and ideas of the Prada phone". |
The key phrase being "we [LG] consider". If you believe the Ko-centric hype that comes out of the gob of a chaebol PR dude then I have some nice cloning techniques to tell you about.
It's common knowledge the iPhone was in development for at least two years, which predates the Prada info release by a year. Regardless, Nokia were the first in the world to demonstrate a touchscreen phone, well ahead of both Apple and LG.
Those ranting on about hardware specs still don't get it. As I've said, a few exclusive deals aside, the same or similar hardware components are available to all the major cellphone makers in the market. The revolution iPhone has brought is not in hardware, but in the software/interface.
A reviewer from the BBC put it well: "Apple's claim that the iPhone is five years ahead of any other mobile is nonsense, in terms of actual tech specifications...However, as a user experience it is probably about 10 years ahead."
(The exceptions being the iPhone's accelerometer and groundbreaking touchscreen - if you haven't seen it you can check it out here http://www.apple.com/)
Those guys at LG and Samsung have been left in the dust by Apple again and are just too slow off the mark to realize what's hit them. |

iPhone kicks ass. What can it do that no other smart phone can? It can get millions of people to use it. For a product and a company, thats all that matters. There are countless examples of consumer electronics products what were technological superior to their rivals that ended up flopping.
Who cares who came up with the idea first. Thats irrelevant. The iPhone is making history while the LG Prada, Do-pods, Nokia N90, and other smart phones will get a minor footnote with microscopic font thats says "XXX was implemented in this model first." |

Can't deny that the Iphone has a slick interface, but too much basic stuff missing: 3G, decent camera, no video recording. For that price, these should be standard.
My vote would go for the Nokia E90, just appearing now around the world. Here are a few reviews:

http://www.allaboutsymbian.com/reviews/item/Nokia_E90-the_early_verdict.php
Pretty much got everything: 3G, HSDPA, 3.2 megapixel camera, 30 fps video camera, GPS, full Qwerty keyboard, supports up to 8GB SD cards, wi-fi, two screens, music/video player, edit Word/Excel documents....and you can buy it unlocked. Ok, it is very expensive, you're looking at $1000, but for what you're getting, I think it's worth it. |

So the Nokia E90 is a revolution, right? It's five years ahead of any phone. No? Why not? Ah! It hasn't been hyped by the Apple hype machine. |

I just tried out the I-phone for the first time at my local MAC store in the mall, here in the US. It's pretty cool. I was impressed. Very impressed. We got to place free calls, too. I called my dad long distance.
Should have thought to call Korea. |

| I played with it a lot this weekend and it was beautiful. The lack of a few features was a turnoff though. The screen got gummed up pretty quickly as well. |

I have only my own experience to draw on, my man. I actually had a Samsung Yepp at one point but it was pretty small and performed dismally compared with the iPod. Sound familiar?

If you thought that was witty maybe you should read more of Wilde and less of his chums. |
