Quote:
Dont go to church on sunday
Dont get on my knees to pray
Dont memorize the books of the bible
I got my own special way
But I know jesus loves me
Maybe just a little bit more

I fall on my knees every sunday
At Zerelda Lee's candy store

Well its got to be a chocolate jesus
Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate jesus
Keep me satisfied

Well I dont want no anna zabba
Dont want no almond joy
There aint nothing better
Suitable for this boy
Well its the only thing
That can pick me up
Better than a cup of gold
See only a chocolate jesus
Can satisfy my soul

(solo)
When the weather gets rough
And its whiskey in the shade
Its best to wrap your savior
Up in cellophane
He flows like the big muddy
But thats ok
Pour him over ice cream
For a nice parfait

Well its got to be a chocolate jesus
Good enough for me
Got to be a chocolate jesus
Good enough for me

Well its got to be a chocolate jesus
Make me feel good inside
Got to be a chocolate jesus
Keep me satisfied

Who pounces on dangling participles reading through these threads?

Hello, flakfizer!

Maybe I was claiming a little bit too much of a poetic license.
Maybe none of you pounce on dangling participles, but some of you pounce on any vulnerable spot you can find to pounce on.

When we attack and you feel hurt, the fault is on our side for being so brutal.
When you attack and we feel hurt, the fault is on our side for being so sensitive.
If there is anything I like, it is consistency.

Hello, Julius!

You say Christians are taught not to retaliate?
I remember being taught that in Sunday School, but I don't see that teaching exemplified very much here.
I admit that prettyinscarlet has been slow to retaliate.

Actually, my post was a failed attempt at a joke. The very question I asked contained a dangling participle (I think).

You like consistency, but are the "we attacks" and "you attacks" you refer to the same sort of attacks? Again, read through the first couple pages of that other thread and see who is being brutal. The attack against the religious here at Dave's often involves phrases like, "I don't like religious people..." or "religious people are stupid or weak." I have never said that I don't like non-religious people. I have never said that atheists are stupid. I wouldn't agree with either of those statements. Have other theistic posters made those kind of statements? Maybe they have, but I see one side calling the other side "stupid" or "idiots" a lot more than I see it going the other way.

I agree with Flakfizer. The abuse is (I would guess) about 70-30 in favour of the atheists.

The atheist's abuse seems mostly intended to give other atheists a chuckle, but some of it is deliberately malicious for sure. I'm not including genuine arguments against the existence of god. Surely nobody here takes that as abuse.

The religious abuse is mostly of the 'I'm holier than thou, you are a crooked stick sent to test me' variety. Not bottle-upside-the-head abuse, per say, but smarmy and rude and solipsist nonetheless.

Personally I think if there was a God or goddess interested in us, he-she-it would tell us more jokes and stop being so solemn all the time.
I mean, come on, why so glum?
I'd be more into Christ if he really did tell Peter the old "I can see your house from here" joke, but that's apocryphal.

I'm reformed indifferent.

I used to slightly slightly care but now I know that religion has no impact on my brief, painful, angst ridden time on Earth.

You should have someone smite you RIGHT NOW then if you are wearing different fabrics. It is a sin punishable by death. Also, beat your wife.

Hello, ED209!

The closest thing I know to humor in the Bible is Jesus' pun on Peter's name:
"On this rock I build my church."

Hello, flakfizer!

I get it now: if the sentence is literally interpreted, it will imply that the dangling participles read through these threads.

I have a little trouble telling dangling participles from misplaced modifiers.
I think this Groucho Marx witticism is a misplaced modifier:

"One morning I shot an elephant in my pajamas.
How he got in my pajamas I'll never know."

By the way, did you know that Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address while travelling on the back of an envelope?

Hello, Julius!

I plead guilty to repeating material.
I do that for newcomers.
On another thread, Franz1973 asked a question, and I wanted to be sure he didn't miss out on my words of wisdom.

I plead not guilty to your charge that I "keep starting religious threads."
This is the only one I started.
It probably seems that way if you regard all of us as a corporate individual.
I can understand that.
Probably all group members are prone to regard out-group members as Bokanovsky twins.

Now why don't you stop pushing all that Hare Krishna stuff on us--oh, I'm sorry, that's not you!

Why don't you?

Why do you automatically assume everybody is doing nothing to improve the world situation? I just donated a sizeable chunk of cash to a charity I'm interested in today.

What do you do?

Ummm... you accused the other poster first. Why did you assume he wasn't doing anything?

Luke 21

The Widow's Offering

1As he looked up, Jesus saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins.[a] 3"I tell you the truth," he said, "this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on."

DOG created MAN

On the first day of creation, God (Dog) created the dog.

On the second day of creation, God created man to serve the dog.

On the third day, God created all the animals of the earth

(especially the horse) to serve as potential food for the dog.

On the fourth day, God created honest toil

so that man could labor for the good of the dog.

On the fifth day, God created the tennis ball

so that the dog might or might not retrieve it.

On the sixth day, God created veterinary science

to keep the dog healthy and the man broke.

On the seventh day, God tried to rest......

but He had to walk the dog.

When God had made the earth and sky, the flowers and the trees,

He then made all the animals, the fish, the birds, and bees.

And when at last He'd finished, not one was quite the same.

He said, "I'll walk this world of mine and give each one a name."

And so He traveled far and wide, and everywhere He went,

a little creature followed Him until its strength was spent.

When all were named upon the earth

and in the sky and sea, the little creature said,

"Dear Lord, there's no name left for me".

Kindly the Father said to him,

"I've left you to the end. I've turned my own name back to front

and called you DOG, my friend".
