I'm a woman and I'm a feminist.
I'm a woman and I have reservations about the word with regard to myself.

How can you claim to subcribe to something when you do not know what it is in its present manifestation? And are you satisfied with merely looking up "feminism" in a dictionary to inform yourself?

Well, my son is a two and a half years old. He's never read any boring books about boys, about the theory or biology of boys etc, but he's certain he is one. He told me last week that he was a boy. I had a look at him, and it seems he is right.

But, to be serious, you are saying that a feminist now is not what a feminist was before. Well, this may be so in the case of many women. But I would say that that only means that feminism takes different forms. Essentially it is concerned with the rights of women. I don't need to read a whole load of boring literature to know I am a feminist, and I certainly can't be bothered to find out which sort of feminist I am. I don't care enough about it. I'd rather read about space monsters and elves. I have my own criteria for my own brand of feminism, which is: what's sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander.
