I'm a semi-regular, go about once a week sometimes twice and everytime I've been there I've had no problems whatsoever. Yeah Gunther had a mean streak in him but he knew his business. Al and Bernie are some of the best people behind a bar I've ever met. They know your name and your drink which is all I ask

Also the barmaid who gets off at 7 is pretty hot which helps

What a depressing post. Especially the bolded parts.

Is Gunther the big American dude that does trivia in 3 Alleys of an evening?

When I went, the first thing I noticed and said was, "Are we still in Korea? I feel like I am home again." The place appears to be a mostly 40 and 50 something year old men hangout, probably US dept. of defense civilian personnel who are US forces veterans.

I didn't think people were friendly though, but didn't expect to find small town warmness and honesty in Seoul and didn't have any hang ups with anything or anyone as I drank my expensive Erdingers. Guess it's really not any more expensive than a bar in Germany. The place reminds me of bars near military bases in Germany.

Shame on any bar or business that says you didn't pay when you did. That's unacceptable to not keep track of what's going on. If I was managing a place, my employees would clearly know, "Be friendly, know who is a paying customer, and know what's going on around you at all times."

Gunther is German. The guy that does quiz is a different guy whose name escapes me at the moment.

No.. Gunther sold his share in 3 Alley Pub a few months back. It was pretty funny watching Gunter buy a beer for the first time when he re-entered the bar as a patron and not an owner. He didn't get a discount.

For all the bitching about the place, they have an extremely loyal client base. In-fact they sell they sell more Jagermeister than any other bar in ASIA. I like 3 Alley Pub, it's a good bar with good policies and good staff.

I get the impression that some people are just over-sensitive gimps that expect bar staff to fall at your feet for entering their humble establishment, ask you how your day was, lick their thumb and clean the dirt scuff under your cheek, ruffle your hair and take your coat to the theme of 'Cheers'.

Yeah, that's three-fifths of a pint of Alley Kat!

At least, when you ask for bar snacks, they should tell you they charge for them.

Piss poor service on the beers, too.

Nuts are often given free in bars. The salt makes you drink more.

Haven't been to 3 Alleys since Wolfhound and Baby Guinness bar opened.

No, actually, this bar gave me the worst bar experience ever in Korea.

Avoid the place.

Better yet -- go have a beer. Just one. And then sit there with a nearly empty glass, talking to people. Watch them go insane. Think of it as entertainment.

I've been living in Korea long enough to know better than to trust 'Western bars'. They will hustle you if you are gullible. General rules to remember:

1) The bartender is not your friend, no matter how friendly he appears. He may not even like foreigners.

2) The waitress is probably not interested in you. She's there to keep guys from coming to the bar (the bartender plays the same role for the occasional group of Korean ladies who show up).

It seems pretty obvious, but last time I went to one with my friends, I ended up drinking with one of their acquaintances, some guy who kept saying, "These are my friends. They watch out for me". When I asked the bartender if he was billing us for the drink that he kept serving us even though we hadn't ordered them, he became more insistent, "Hey, don't say that. These are my friends. They look after me...". He even implied that I was being racist and disrespectful. Just so the bartender would understand that I'm not a sucker like this guy, I pulled him aside and spoke to him in Korean for a minute or two. The twit kept trying to intervene. I finally asked him if he understood what we were talking about. "Yeah, I speak Korean.", he answered... to which I asked, "So, how long have you been in Korea?". "Three weeks", he says. Rolling Eyes

Unless I guess you're used to Angeles City, and this ain't that kinda bar.

Filipinas in this country get treated like sh*t, FYI.

Especially by Koreans. But even more by wan kers like this:
