| I came here right out of college and have been here 2 years. But right now I'm still younger than a lot of people fresh off the boat. Imma take a 6 month break, and come back for maybe another 2 years. I still consider myself to only be here temporarily though. Make a ton of money, blow it traveling the world, then settle down back home and start a boring life (compared to the one here in Korea). |

Everywhere seems boring once the newness of the place has worn off. I am gone from Korea (you can see where the market is headed with PS jobs disappearing and all that remaining being crap hagwons) and moving to the greener pastures of China.
Well the pastures aren't green but the opportunities are getting better. |

I'm going back, just don't know when.... but as I'm renting my house for 1 million 1 a month I'm not in a big hurry.
If I lived in the US, I would probably go back, but I don't like getting taxed at 40% and losing 5% through national insurance. |

| I am back home now. I moved back last weekend. It's going okay so far. I have a couple of internships lined up which I start in the next couple of weeks. I'm enrolled on a language course at Edinburgh Uni which starts in the new year. I'm looking at apartments this coming week and I'm just going to take any job that comes my way to fund doing the internships. I've pretty much decided that I'll move on from the UK in a year or so to study for a second MA, carry on with language study, and find work overseas. I think in 5 or 6 years I'll look at moving to S.E. Asia for a year or two working in a field related to what I want to do. Teaching is, Korea has taught me, definitely not the career for me. |

| I am sure "you" aren't...whats more interesting is they could pay a scripted robot to do your same job for almost "free". |

No, he most certainly didn't, sadly enough, as Yaya mentioned ... |

Don't know about going home but staying in Korea depends largely on my ability to move up here.
One of the major problems about teaching in Korea these days is a shortage of people over 25 to hang out with. Every time I meet a group of foreigners, I'm always the oldest by a stretch and I'm only 27.
This has been sort of a wake up call for me recently. My goal is to educate myself and get a better job outside of the hagwon racket then I can be here and not feel like the creepy old guy who works at McDonald's with teenagers.
PS: Sorry to hear about the OP. Makes me sad given the tone of this thread. Reminds me of when people dig up Jongnoguru's old posts... |

Yes, it makes me sad too, when people dig up JG's old posts.
Yaya, he was killed in a crash.
Maybe we should just let this thread fade away. It brings back sad memories for me (and others). And also, out of respect for those who are no longer with us. |
