Not everyone has access to or spends time poring over day to day news items from Iraq to fill in for themselves a larger picture from each little event. We may see images of bombings etc on standard news but the infrequent reports are only factual without any commentary. Statements about why there was a bombing are left out or are simple and vague.
Getting this kind of condensed yet thorough documentary (that tells us why) out to the mainstream is a good thing. It made me realise what was happening and why and the huge scale of the problem.
It made me no longer look with envy that some young ESLer had a chance to get a very well-paid job in the Green Zone. Not for a million bucks. Well... maybe a million. |
