Well, I'm sure(or at least I hope) that there is ONE Korean out there(non-gyopo) that believes that "Dokdo" isn't Korean. But I have yet to find one. There is always the "Dokdo is ours" sentiment. Have you ever found anyone that goes against the grain on this issue?

As far as comparing the propaganda that occurs here with that that occurred in a certain country in the 30's and 40's...well, I notice a lot of similarities. "Pure blood" being at the forefront. N'est-ce pas?

Seeing the complete lack of foreign brides with ajosshi farmers, this message is clearly being taken to heart by the most die-hard supporters of that propaganda.

It doesn't matter what people say, it matters what they do.

yeah talk about this stuff, today i attend a presentation about this Dokdo shit. Korean( young students) are all saying that koreans come first and japanese are wrong and they use counterfeit evidence, much more sophisticated than korean "ones". So I said that why not prove the japanese evidence to be counterfeit then bring to internation court, after that whatever result will be, two countries ( or the people, for that matters, mostly towards korean side) will not dispute and show much wrong hatred towards each other. Korean students( about 19,20 years old) afraid that if the thing is brought to international court, Japan will win since they are more "abroad" Shocked and have better image internationally than korea Evil or Very Mad ( why is that?) and they will have high percentage of wining ( of course, if its theirs) . So they want the matter to lay low and nothing relates to the international court which i dont really like, since it will just go to nothing, at all.

I wish I could agree with you Steel, but there is still widespread thought of pure blood here. Though I did have one Korean teacher tell me out of the blue "You know, Koreans don't have pure blood." Not sure what made her say that.

What they are really saying is that once it is brought to court and decided on that will be the end of it and Koreans don't really want it to end; they love the idea of "fighting" for something.

You must be a Korean on the defensive shifting the blame to foreigners. How do I know that? You made 4 grammatical errors just in your first line. Can you find them?

You must be blind to your own culture. My middle school students are well indoctrinated in Korea's Dokdo is Ours belief. They've drawn posters for me (without my asking) of Dokdo and anti-Japanese posters too.

Really? I've taught public elementary school for 2 years and high school for 2 years and not ONCE was Dokdo ever brought up in my classroom.

None of the teachers at my school ever bring up Dokdo. Not at school lunch, not at school dinners. In fact, the only time I EVER read about Dokdo is on Dave's where there is a thread practically every other day about it.

same here.

I got a complaint from mothers for playing the Devil's Advocate during a discussion about Dokdo. I guess they wanted me to blindly accept their side. No 'Con' side to this debate.

The funny thing about this whole Takeshima issue is that Koreans want us involved, but only on their side.

They want us to know about it, but not to criticise or question it. Just accept it, and eat your kimchi. And like it!!!
