People are like that on the korean boards because they are in Korea. Lets face it Korea would not be their choice of places to live in most cases. So people are pissed off because life has dealt them a bad gig and so they fight on the internet to pass time and relieve tension.

I was miserable in that country and I bet a lot of you are as well. You dont see people on the other boards duking it out because they are out having fun.

Also the comment about being able to say anything without being punched was spot on.

It depends on my mood/the topic. Plenty of us are having fun arguing. It's something we can't do as much in Korea, so we vent here.

Plenty of threads are nice, though. I started one on ricecooker recipes, and only one person was a tool.

If you can find an English-speaking Korean, there are many topics you can argue over (fan death, Korean racial superiority, the toilet-paper-in-trashcan practice... etc.).

The fun can last for hours.

Perfect for making friends!

you'd be surprised.

Well, only with the younger, traveled Koreans. Otherwise, we're limited if we want to keep those Korean friends.

Agreed and disagree ( a bit ). I think your comment is more or less on.

The one exception, for myself, is around being dealt a bad gig. I get your point but I don't feel like the job is bad - I generally don't like living in Korea or even Korean culture --- on the other hand the job is decent as is the opportunity to save and travel as well......

But as you say, it is Korea.

You are soooo correct about other boards, much friendlier and less angry in tone.

this website is great for pure information, facts about where to find things in seoul, etc
But at the slightest hint of an opinion people get downright nasty. Which is why i almost never look at this site anymore. It's a quick way to ruin your day. Some of the posters here would be thrown down a flight of stairs quickly if they had nerve enough to give their davesesl views in public.

oh yah - about korea - I've been here 13 years. it took me 10 1/2 years
to begin to like it
