Simply read the contract sticky thread since you know where it is. I've personally reviewed a majority of them so I'm well aware of what the majority of them look like. Some similarities are: They tend to be poorly written, have no mention of pension, violate labor law multiple times and offer either provided housing or a housing allowance with a clearly stated maximum.
|
I knew you would say this as you can't proe your statement true. I did do a quick check and of the 5 contracts I looked at 4 did NOT have a dollar amount so I think you are in deep do-do on your claim.

| You were not correct, you were making a blanket statement about housing allowances. If you'd said SOME housing allowances cannot be added to the severance then I would have agreed with you. |
That is one thing I have noticed about you over the years, you try to remain superior to all those who challenge you. Now you are being technical and I must say you have diminished yoursef in my eyes as you seem to be as nitpicky and greedy as all the rest of the Foriengers here inspite of your being an 'apologist'.
I would have thought you were better than that and better enough to make such a statement below:
| Quote: |
| Well I care about money so if you don't...sign over your paychecks to me. |
That just shows your ignorance about people who say they do not care about money. We do not give it away freely, but we do not make unrealistic demands or try to up our severance through nefarious means. I would leave that extra money up to the employer to pay or not and not demand it, but then I have morals.
Your inability to to say I was correct also just shows that all your pontifcating on behalf of Koreans is for not and when push comes to shove you would side against the Korean people every time. |

| It isn't being greedy if you're asking for what is legally yours. We deskwarm because it's in our contract. I don't see why our asking for what we are entitled to receive is greedy. |

We're not just ENTITLED to it. We EARNED it according to the law. |

I however am not surprised that the housing contracts you looked at did not have a "DOLLAR" amount. Indeed I would be surprised if ANY of them had a "DOLLAR" amount for the housing. |

How does disagreeing with another foreigner show that I am siding against the Korean people? Your theories grow more wild by the hour.
And anyone who's familiar with my history would disagree with you that I side against the Korean people which only shows that you are struggling with reality. You are not the Korean people. You do not speak for the Korean people. And disagreeing with you is not disagreeing with the Korean people.
One thing I will never advocate is that Foreign Teachers should not be given what they earned. Go ahead and do so if you wish, you are not likely to have too many allies on that point. |

Oh and I forgot to say one thing. SINCE you are being technical, you and OO were not correct because you did not specifically say the amount of the housing allowance has to be stated clearly in a won amount per month.
Two people can play that game if you like. |

The summary provide by the law firm is not an official, legally binding statement. It is a guideline for employees to know that if they challenge a cheating employer, they are basically guaranteed slam-dunk win. Since the firm takes a percentage of the findings, they dont want to attract a lot of low award/high work cases.
The LAW still includes allowances as part of the wage whether they is a specified Won amount in your contract or not:
The term wages in this Act means wages, salaries and
any other money and valuable goods an employer pays to
a worker for his/her work, regardless of how such payments
are termed. |

When is it not? It's on the paystub. |

Just getting an itemized paystub from a korean employer can be a battle unto itself.
.....which is probably why the firm suggests that the amount be stated in the contract. More work otherwise.

I can confirm this.
I asked them for my paystub and they were surprised that I asked for it. Then they never gave it to me and were surprised when I asked a 2ND TIME! The audacity!
I wanted it just so I can see what I'm getting deducted.
I told them eventually I just wanted it for my American Tax purposes. |

I've asked a few times, after doing extra camps, to make sure everything was okay.
This thread prompted me to request a paystub for next week, actually. I realized that I should probably get it so that my accountant could file my taxes nice and early next month.
They just print out a word document, but it's itemized. The have them on file for all teachers. It's just that most people don't ask for a copy.
I agree: saying it's for your American taxes is the easiest way to get an itemized pay stub. Best of luck! |
