No what I mean is that I can carry on simple conversations in Korean. Not discuss rocket science though...that's a bit out of my league.
What about you? I suppose you are fluent?

Discussing the weather would be out of your league.

Since you don't even know me and have never met me, you obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about. But do go on with your speculations..it's quite amusing to watch you flail about madly hoping to say something that's accurate.

So you are saying you can read Korean?

@maladict23

I understand what you are saying if you want to go into banking, midwifery or any other profession then ESL is not really going to do you any favours.

However, in its own right EFL is an industry that many do well out of and can be a rewarding career. Not my personal cup of tea, or yours, but others have made good careers.

I would say though that if you wanted to land a job back home that was not a profession, say an admin job in the public sector or as a drone in some business, then I dont think 10 years in ESL would mark you down much. Unless the role was really specialised.

Pmsl, so you are HONESTLY saying hand on heart you can read Korean? (I don't mean getting a teacher from your school to write a sentence for you.)

On a basic level yes...although it seems to me you are determined not to believe me whatever I say, so what's the point in asking me questions? Personally I don't even see the point in having this conversation in that case.

What does 'basic level' mean? It's a phonetic alphabet. Either you can read it or you can't.

Dude, drop it, you're annoying. Besides, I think you're confusing Korean with Hangeul. I don't say I can "read Finnish" just because I know the alphabet.

And if you yourself spoke Korean, you'd know his sentence wasn't written by a native speaker, so it's likely he wrote it himself and is fairly estimating his abilities.

What does that even mean? I stopped writing like that when I hung up my Starcraft boots, back around 1999.

A Korean would never write "네, 당신은요?"...certainly not in that context on a message board. It is a sentence that a foreigner who speaks basic Korean would write.

왜 이렇게 꾸준히 "걔가 기본적인 한국어 못한다"고 계속 주장하는 거야?? 그냥 놔둬 봐...인생에 할 일이 없나 보네 ㅋㅋ

Mr. Pot, meet Mr. Kettle.
