Steelrails, you completly missed my attempt at humour. (Hint: The Bay City Rollers)

If you knew your music you would have picked up on the sarcasim.

I got it. but suggesting someone's old and cranky because they don't appreciate PRE pubescent music (or music for prepubescents) doesn't really drive the point home.

I don't get it, where and when did I become old and cranky?

I'm actually a pretty cool fella (some say). I play sax, guitar, banjo, and harp not too bad.

Yeah, this is Daves and I bitch about teaching and the qualified, but music is my pastime. I've played in many bands.

I thought the thrust of your post was that "good music" was the one played in the late 60's, early 70's (Deep Purple, Bay City Rollers) and you were being sarcastic.

Touche.

I always through out "The Kingston Trio" as my "get off my lawn" group.

Artie Shaw too...

comic books, such as superhero comic books have an audience that goes well into the 40's and beyond, so I have no issue with that whatsoever.

Children's books as well as children's shows, like Barney, Sesame Street and Cookie monster and such, I'll leave to you Smile

with one exception. I DO like this children's bedtime story:

I think your choice of bedtime story is rather telling about "maturity".

Sorry, but I'd take 'A Series of Unfortunate Events' (Kind of a Kpop of kid's books- formulaic but an endearing quality to it) over Spiderman anyday.

Also as an elementary school teacher I make sure to get in my fair share of children's books to use in lessons, you know, be proactive about it.

And I've said it before and I'll say it again, anyone who watches action movies has no right acting high and mighty to Kpop listeners. Action movies are the Kpop of film. "Gee, do you think any of the 50 bad guys spraying bullets will actually hit the hero?" as the viewer vicariously acts out violent fantasies. I'll take Ratatouille anyday over The Green Hornet.

As for the topic at hand, I say that Kpop has declined in its content of the lyrics, but improved in production values.

Believe it or not Kpop Boy bands in the 90s would address things like rigid social structures, bullying, and moral failures in Korean society.

sounds like a compliment, thanks. Obviously it was written by a young father for other fathers.

I don't much care about lyrics, it's the melody/rhythm that make the song
and I've seen slight improvement in K pop along those lines, as they're using more American type production/sound rather than the European "bubble pop" which I wholeheartedly detest.

not about acting high and mighty, mostly just laughing at someone, and not necessarily in a malevolent way, and saying.. your taste in music sucks.! Smile

kind of like when your drunk friend hooks up with a drunk fugly gal at the end of the night and you laugh at him the following day.
