| Personally, I hate Costco. If this move puts extra cash into the mom and pop retailers across this country, I am all for it. For me Costco represents glutony at its finest. Buying crap, and too much of it, that one does not need. |
You might find this to be of interest. |

Like I said, if it really bothers people, enough of them can vote out those who instituted the ordinance. |
You're proposing this is how things should operate? |
That IS how things operate pretty much in any democracy across the world. |

I said "should." DIsbell made that statement as though it were the optimal way to conduct government. When in a representative government, aren't people supposed to respond with feedback regarding the actions of government officials, regardless of the election cycle? |

| Recalls and public-opinion campaigns that result in resignations are also on the table, but that doesn't fundamentally change that we still elect people to make laws and delegate them responsibility to make policy decisions. Again, there's nothing inappropriate about what they've done here- you can say it's useless, or detrimental, or antithetical to market principles, or just plain stupid, but it's not inappropriate. Inappropriate is what entertainment agency CEOs do to 6th grade girls. |

Legislation that: panders, brings about no positive change, inconveniences people, and unnecessarily (negatively) interferes with the general flow of things--is inappropriate. Why? Because it is contrary to what legislation is supposed to do.
See? I summarized it all in one word. |

Yes but do people in for example America spend 3-4 years locked in a Hagwon studying for those and do those exams almost entirely determine if you get an offer, with no consideration to your other qualifications or moral compass? |

I went to Costco Yangpyung last night and there are signs all around the store and printed on receipts-
"Costco Yangpyung will be closed on the secound and fourth Sunday of each month per district direction. Thanks. Closed date:5/27, 6/10, 6/24. 7/8"
On the Costco Korea website there are notices about forced closings at every location:
http://www.costco.co.kr/eng/whs_851.htm
Daegu- starts May 13th
Daejeon- starts May 27th
Yangjae-starts May 27th
Sangbong- starts May 27th
Ilsan- starts June 10th
Busan- Starts June 10th
Why punish a store that does nothing illegal, pays its taxes, and helps customers who obviously love the many products offered? So stupid, and it didn't have to happen. Plus, if you think the idiots will stop at this, you're kidding yourself. They want to limit new stores, what stores sell, and store hours and opening days. It's being done to limit your choices and to force you to pay higher prices. |
