A lot of you guys have issues regarding your sexuality. Sleeping in the same bed as a guy doesn't make you gay, or closeted. I've shared a bed with guys loads of times. Football trips, band trips, etc. Kissing (on the cheek), hugging, holding hands. I don't see that as gay. You guys sound really uptight and archaic in your thinking.
When I want to relax I take off my trousers. Walking around in your underwear is way more comfortable. I even do it in my grans. That's not gay either.
The guy got drunk and acted like an ass. I don't think he deserved to be fired though (unless I'm missing something). That's weak. |

Yes, I asked because I said I did feel bad. I never actually said I wanted him fired. Anyway, they said there were a number of other issues and this was just the last straw. |

| The "advance" or whatever it was is not exactly the issue here. It's the fact that he freaked out and acted like a lunatic. I already said it but this dude was not my friend, and not someone I even remotely liked. |

| My sister used to work at a foreign company in Korea. The Korean director used to make my sister do his own work because it required English and she was the most fluent in it. A Korean co-worker feared that she might get replaced and was jealous. My sister quit after she found out that the co-worker was spreading false rumours about her. A few months later, my sister told me that both the director and the co-worker got fired. The boss noticed the negative quality of work after my sister left. |

Stop being a dweeb and creating some PC labeling to my posts. I said I was pro gay everything. Context changes nothing. One dude threw a hissy fit in his panties because another dude refused to sleep in the same bed with him. I'm calling closet homo on this one (not that there's anything wrong with that). Korean men sometimes sleep in the same bed, fine. But this guy went into a rage and destroyed his apartment when he wouldn't sleep with him... Gizzay... |
lol
Ah man, this thread is gold!
Seriously Steels, augistine is correct. That supervisor was acting pretty damn gay. Plus the OP even said that the super visor had lived overseas.
Furthermore, slapping each other on the buts is also borderline homo IMO.
There's a lot of latent homosexuality in sports. Anytime when you have groups of men together there is always gay undertones (i.e. military, prison, Catholic Church).
For the love of god, stop apologizing for this one. If this happened to you your own gaydar would be sounding off and you know it. |

someone who trashes their subordinate's apartment is a pretty toxic person to have around at work. I'm glad he got the boot. |

Sorry, but he's not going to get fired. Actions while drunk in Korea are pretty heavily forgiven. You never mentioned the nationalities involved, but if it's in a Korean workspace, I would put money on nothing official happening.

Gay!
Oh man I hope that was a joke post.
Anyways, the more gays or gay like behavior the better for me. It makes the picking out for chicks all the more easier.
This is why foreign guys (Korean Americans/Canadians included) do so well in Korea because much of the local male population are a bunch of sissies. The competition is weak. Plus most of the dudes still live at home with their parents.
Women prefer a man without skinny jeans and man bag and makeup.
I'm not saying all Korean males are gay. But there is a lot of gay like behavior that goes on here from a Western perspective. |

LOL is this thread real? A bunch of Koreans fire their fellow Korean director, and keep onboard the foreigner tattletale? Amazing turn of events.
But still sticking to my view that it's not a good move in the long run. |

So the director ended up being late. I tried to subtly ask someone when the director would be there but the message was intercepted and another boss of mine whom I did not want to speak (he's friends with this supervisor) with ended up talking to me. I told him what happened and he was pretty blown away by it.
He basically pleaded with me not to go to the director because that would involve this other dude getting fired. Now I do want to get him fired but I also do feel slightly bad as this dude is kind of a schlemiel. I did say at the least I need it to be known that the dent in the refrigerator is not my responsibility at all. I also would like my apartment to be cleaned.
Now this dude told me that after we spoke, he briefly and vaguely spoke with the director. He thanked me for being reasonable and whatnot... |
What they are actually saying is "stop being unreasonable, people drink, we don't want to know what happened", and trying to keep senior mgmt out of it.
You gave them a hard time, and that's as far as you'll get, so now drop it and make friends. But no way they will trust you now since you talked about drinkie drinkie happenings in the office. It's a no win situation IMO. |
Turns out you were completely wrong. |
Haha, I admit I was wrong that he wouldn't get fired, but not wrong about it being a no win situation.
I'd watch your back, you totally violated drinking code. |

| This thread has the makings of a classic. I can even predict what's probably going to happen next; his (former) supervisor is going to turn up at his apartment and threaten him because he got fired, then he's going to come back on here and ask what he should do. |

So how are all these dudes (foreigners included) dating women while wearing skinny jeans?
Let's not kid ourselves about how well foreign guys do in Korea. To me, it's painfully obvious that only a certain subset of the population even wants to date a foreigner.
Entire thread reeks of insecurity and machoism |

I'm with you, way too many people in this thread are insecure with their sexuality it seems. "Waaahhh! Run, a member of the same sex is in his underwear! He's totally coming onto me" .... |
