Don't you get tired of whining about the whiners? Question

I do. I mean, it's tiresome to listen to posts (by you, young_clinton, etc.) that add nothing to the discussion.

UP UR GAME BRAH

You really are addicted to Dave's huh?

He wouldn't have anything to add to any discussion otherwise, as you already pointed out. There are several on here that do just that.

Seriously, byrddogs, you are THE WORST on this forum for not adding to discussions. Almost all of your posts consist of you (trash) talking about a poster, not discussing the thread topic.

I'm guilty of the same from time to time, but with you it's almost ALL the time. On top of that, you have the audacity to try to call other people out on it.

You hate Korea, you hate Korean culture, you hate the people on Dave's, you live in China...maybe it's time for you to move on? Or at the very least, don't be so damn hypocritical.

I just keep telling myself that this is a country that insists the Christmas Tree originated in Korea. Confused

This is the first time in ten years on this forum that I have heard this claim. I don't believe that a significant portion of the locals think this.

Just heard this from a local for the first time the other day.

And he didn't say, "the Korean fir-tree is from Korea.", He said, "The Christmas tree is from Korea." Implying they came up with the whole tradition too. wtf...

Is there a pro-Korean trivia book they all share? Because a lot of the same odd trivia factoids and non-factoids tend to circulate around.

As for the tree thing, I told him we always got a permit to cut our own tree, as did most of the people we knew, and that those trees were indigenous ponderosa pines. He looked very disappointed after that. Smile

Maybe you are onto something there. I used to not be that way. I'll do better.

You are off mark on the rest.

Thanks, buddy!

Yeah I was like "Awww hell it's on now." Was reaching for the popcorn until I saw the response.

I remember once attempting to make a similar statement to the one you did to byrddogs, about how he kind of isn't practicing what he is preaching when he rants about posters here not being like they used to be. But I am a snarky buttface, so of course I said it in some offhand snarky way.

Snark.

Snark snark.

Snarksnarksnark.

Unstoppable force meeting the immovable object kind of thing. I wasn't sure if he had gotten my intended message, and it didn't really matter. I walked away from the exchange, bewildered, thinking, "Well, then."

By the way, I'm pretty sure byrddogs zinged you just then. Wink

That's kind of what I thought, but I gave him the benefit of the doubt and joined him on the highroad.

I remember that clearly, and I've had a great respect for you and your posts since, seriously.

You can't really fault them for being proud. Most people are proud of their heritage. Koreans are no different.

Are you proud of things from your country that you think are crap?

If you are, then someone could, fairly justifiably, accuse you of being blindly patriotic. A characteristic most people would say was a fault.

Yes but heritage comes in many shapes and forms - which was kind of what the survey was about. More people here are proud of things like tradtional costume than pop culture , for example. the other interesting thing was the way the figure for Korean people liking pop culture has risen from 53.6% to 81.5% since 2008.

Koreans might well be different from other countries, as a similar survey done in the UK, for example, might show only 32% of people are proud of traditional English costume (whatever that is - a beefeaters outfit?) and only 8% would actually know what a UNESCO hetitage site was. You see how different countries have slightly different characteristics that are sometimes worth discussing? How about next time read the article and have a few thoughts on the subject before posting your rather uninspiring platitudes eh?

The average age of respondents: 49. I'm surprised they felt pride in Korean pop culture/kpop.
