Am I the most annoying and obnoxious poster in this thread? If so, I apologize and will up my game. (I really don't care about e-battles; if I have something related to the issue, I'll post it, if not I'll just ignore. Personal attacks are lame and boring. I hope others will do the same.)

I wasn't commenting on how annoying and obnoxious you are.

On how annoying and obnoxious someone else is (whose name starts with the letter "g")? Something else? Sorry; I missed your point.

Anyways, it's good to stay on topic. I will try to type better quality writing from now on. It's a good goal to have.

My dictionary does not confirm that. Yours does?

Seems to be a lot of grey area...(or should I say pink?)...in this issue.

Yeah does actually (Merriam-Webster: works of art or literature that deal with sex and are meant to cause sexual feelings). The go-to site of all sites (Wikipedia) gets more into it, so to speak. General consensus is sexuality and art combined.
Grey eras eh? 50 shades of them no doubt. Wink

Ok...let's just take Merriam-Webster.

Pornography:
Quote:
Full Definition of PORNOGRAPHY

1
: the depiction of erotic behavior (as in pictures or writing) intended to cause sexual excitement

Erotica:

Quote:
erot·i·ca noun plural but singular or plural in construction \i-ˈrä-ti-kə\
: works of art or literature that deal with sex and are meant to cause sexual feelings : erotic works

hmm...not the same?
Semantics...by any other name.

While I am not entirely sure if you were simply jesting with Fox on this, you can see that your original point on this definition relationship has indeed some underlying issues that required exposure.

mmmm, exposure. I like it already.

The definitions you point to do show differences. Sexual excitement>sexual feelings. One includes the word 'art', one does not.

Differences by degrees I am guessing is your argument, that these degrees are somewhat arbitrary, i.e. semantics, and can be considered as to be the same thing. If that is not your point forgive me for assuming, but a degree is a measure of difference. How different is the game we play with words. The game of erotica vs. pornography has been played out by many with higher pay grades than me, so I do take your point about it being worth consideration.

Regarding the term 'works of art or literature'. I believe this brings intent, and in the field of study I was trained, intent is very important (it is given the term 'functional analysis').

The intent of Kpop (my opinion) is fleeting benign entertainment that may or may not include some rather pedestrian titillation. It is candy. It may not be high art, but from a Warhol perspective, it is art for the masses. If its intent is to be pulp music (and music is art), it is succeeding. I feel remarkably confident in saying it's intent is not a training ground for leading 3rd graders into prostitution as Fox claims.

I poke Fox because his assumptions need to be challenged. He does not like me for it. I do not care.

I think I will leave it there.

Wow, no wonder my students say "f*ck you" all the time. It's in the chorus of their favorite kpop songs.

I wonder what the Korean reaction would be if a western pop act had a song with a chorus saying "Yah, Shee-bal Sekki!" or something like that, and it played in random shops and cafes, etc. Then whenever white kids saw any Asian from far enough away they'd suddenly yell "Yah, Shee-bal Sekki!" and burst out laughing.

The video is as yucky as the chorus. That whole violence/dominance thing the guys sometimes do to the girls here is a bit too "rapey" IMO. They way they pin the girls against walls or grab their faces or hair and shake them around is kinda nasty. Same with the couple walk where the guy practically has the girl in a headlock. Not into that.

World Traveler, you might be the most annoying and obnoxious poster in ANY Dave's thread. This isn't even a personal attack, just a legitimate answer to the question you posed.

Haha, yeah right. Rolling Eyes I clearly wasn't soliciting a response to that question, just asking for clarification from Ginormousaurus.

From now on, try to write something interesting, on topic, and of universal relevance to forum readers. Otherwise, you are obnoxious and annoying. Got it?

Yeah, seriously.

I hope all the English teachers over there are really tearing their students a new one if they ever sing this song. They need to be taught just how completely bad it is to use those words.

No worse words in the English language. (well okay, i guess it would be worse if we appended the N word, or honky, or Ch***, etc.)

You seriously have to get into scary, raging mad teacher mode so that they get how rude they're being. (or if that's not your style, break out your guitar and let them know the words make the unicorns cry from atop their rainbows)
